I like the priest of lathander. Definitely a fun class. The endgame shield spell is really powerful, too.

arre there enough halfling npcs to have a halfling group only? i found montaron, but am a little disappointed hes with that crazy mage xzar

i am really liking the priest, i have always liked clerics. i thought druid would be fun, but its really tough at lvl 1

No, I don't think you can do an all-halfling party.

i was looking at the npc list, it doesnt look like some of the npcs are even in the next half of the series, a little sad about that also there is only 1 halfling id probably want, and she is in SoA

I think you'd have to make a bunch of custom halfling characters.

Your druid should get pretty good later:
There's a human druid named Faldorn, I've been using her lately instead of the cleric, because she can reach level 10 with the experience cap (160k) in BG1 EE. This allows for level 5 spells which seems rare, and with the "Honorary Ring of Sune" she can already cast two "Call Woodland Beings" at level 7, which have mass curing, hold monsters, call lightning, etc. (it's like having a party of 8).

For a single class druid, I would go Avenger. The disadvantages are pretty moot, and the bonus spells are nice.

That being said, 90% of the time if I'm playing a druid, I multiclass as a Fighter/Druid. Dual classing as a Zerker9 to druid also works well, and if it's important to you, is easy to roleplay a backstory.

For more fun with druids, you can use a IWD druid spell pack, giving you access to a lot more spell options.

does the iwd spell pack fit pretty good?? do you get to take it with you to bg2?

i tried to find mods for more druid spells and maybe better shapeshift abilities at higher levels, i couldnt find any that seemed to work with bg ee

avenger druid would be a lot of fun. fighter/druid seems interesting. i don't think i'd dual though, it seems like it takes forever to get xp, im lvl 4 by myself on my way to bandit camp

The nice part about Dual classing, is if you go Bezerker 9, then swap to druid, you will be able to have Grand Mastery in Scimitars with 3 pips in Dual WIeld fairly early on in BG2. Earlier druid levels go by fast, second only to a thief. So you will hit level 10 druid fairly quickly and then you will gain access to all your zerker abilites, making for a pretty powerful and interesting hero. If you Mulitclass GM will not be available to you.

Another bonus of DC is that you get a full fledged Fighter at lower levels, where they shine, helping you survive the earlier parts of the game. Then as you start to transition into BG2, you start over as a Druid, gaining access to the powerful end game spell casting they bring.

Exp comes really fast in BG2, so you won't spend a lot of time as a lowly Druid.

I can't find the IWD spell pack that I used to use online. With a quick search I see the IWDification mod at G3. That also adds in some arcane spells for your mages.

I feel they fit pretty good, and it doesn't make your team too OP, since what is good for the goose, is good for the gander. The mages and druids you will be going up against will also have access to these spells.

Depending on how much it IWDifies, Paladins and Rangers get a bit of a spell buff too, since in IWD they open up each spell level a few levels earlier (including level 1 so getting any spells), and get progression in slots up to level 30, not level 20, including eventual access to level 6 spells. There's a somewhat slower progression of slots once a spell level is opened up though, although with the progression up to level 30, they do end up with more slots in all spell levels.
