Custom portraits won't work anymore?

So I tried to install some custom portraits. Found a pack specifically for BGEE, run the .exe — it didn't work. Tried to manually place files into "Portraits" folder — no result. Renamed some of the portraits to a shorter names — still nothing, game simply doesn't see them.

So I take it that you can't use any custom portraits this way anymore, or do I do something wrong?

I had similar issue to fix i went into my portrait folder and i clicked on the portrait icon and then i could see the pic in the folder - loaded again and it worked.

I've done everything in that guide and portraits still don't work for me. My portrait is BMP, 210x330 pixels, placed in the Portraits folder, with a filename less than 8 characters ending with L. STILL the custom portrait will not show up. Beyond frustrating.

Are you putting them in the right place?

I don't think they work if you put them in the portraits folder in the install path. With EE, you need to open up the path it makes in your Documents folder, and put them in the portraits folder located there. And then, the "Custom Portraits" button in-game does not bring them up, they simply appear at the far right end of the normal portrait lineup.

Thanks for the reply, to answer your inquiry: that was indeed the culprit. I was putting the pictures into the steamapp/common/.../portraits directory instead of the documents/bgee/portraits folder... I figured it out probably an hour after making this discussion post. #facepalm Thanks for taking the time to write out a solution for me however! Hopefully it will serve the next poor soul.

Glad to know you figured it out. To be fair, I did the same thing when I first started playing the EE version.
