Modding
Last time I played baldurs gate, I had quite a few mods. One significant mod that combined the two games, one that let me romance the black girl (forgive me I forget her name), and some other gameplay mods. Do those mods work with this?

(also can someone help me find those mods again, lol)

Combining the two games must have been BGT (Baldur's Gate Trilogy) which is not supported on the EEs, and as for the girl: Do you mean Dynaheir? You're probably remembering the BG1 NPCs mod then... it has romances component for every NPC... could it be those?

ATM there's currently some issues finding some of the mods, as one of the big modding sites is currently down (spellholdstudios.)

Best chance is to check at the G3[www.gibberlings3.net] site and see if the mods you want are hosted there.

If it was the BG1 NPC project then, it's here[www.gibberlings3.net]

For playing the two games in one, you'll need Enhanced Edition Trilogy mod (EET for short) and most mods work with the EEs currently (exception being if they used to depend on some function of the ToBEx extension that is not supported in the EEs) but the list gets a bit narrower when you're looking to install mods over EET.

The EET mod doens't have a home page at G3 for some reason, but here are the main forums[www.gibberlings3.net], here's the readme[rawgit.com] and here's the download link[github.com].

I'd recommend to check this list: Mod Compatibility List for EET[k4thos.github.io] if you're interested in going with that.

Else, you can check the modding forums on Beamdog: here[forums.beamdog.com] and here for BG2[forums.beamdog.com]

Lastly, I wouldn't recommend using the EE Mod Install tool or the old Big World Project Setup... neither of those are currently in good standing with many modders... so if you find an issue with a mod you'll have a hard time reporting it if you say you used those tools.

Best option is to just install mods manually, or use Project Infinity[forums.beamdog.com] (keep in mind that's still in beta, but it's fully functional already.)

What Leeux said. However I'm not 100% with him on the EE mod Install Tool. There has been a rockus about it in the modding community, but as a player with no stance on the controversy it's still a great tool to use.

I mean, I've got about 120 mods/submods installed thanks to it, and its working flawlessly

PCR, what mods do you have installed? And uh, would you be willing to zip that ♥♥♥♥ and throw it my way so I don't have to put in a lot of effort to mod the game, lmao. Also I really meant to say thank you to Leeux , but I kept putting it off. I'm sorry.

I would also like a recommendation on the best mods to install...maybe not 150 lol...but the ones that are necessary quality of life or add immensely to the content?

It all depends, it's a very subjective aspect of the game, and the mods I like you probably won't like... some prefer difficulty enhancing mods, some prefer mods that make the game easier... it's difficult to say!

For me, and the type of mods I like, at least for BG1, I'd definitely recommend BG1 NPC Project, Thalantyr Item Upgrade, BGQE (BG Mini Quest Encounters), maybe the Unfinished Business mod, many or all of Lava Del'Vortel's mods, Stratagems, Tweaks Anyhology, Lefreut's UI, Portraits Portraits Everywhere.

I'd recommend going to Spellhold Studios and looking into the Big World Project big PDF that has descriptions of most mods covered by the project... you don't have to use the project or install all mods, but the PDF is invaluable in knowing which mods you'd like to install.

Here's the link to the current PDF[www.shsforums.net]
