Anyone else glitched final Sarevok battle?
Just beat the game. But only after mutiple attempts on the Sarevok battle. I had a theory that the skull on the floor was a huge trap so I put cheetah boots on my player (Ranger) and ran to the left of the skull while leaving my party at the door. My plan was to activate the fight and lure Sarevok back to the party (safe from the traps.)

On my final attempt I got close enough to see Sarevok feet but not activate the fight, so I sent in Dynaheir to get a free Fireball on him.

This is where the glitch happen. Dynaheir activated the traps, poisoning us, holding us and making us sleep. But no damage was taken from the poison and the game allowed me to do a quick save.

Starting the fight with a fireball and running back I just pooled all my damage to Sarevok and the fight ended quickly, since you win rather you beat his lackeys or not

Cheap or not, its a win for me since the original goal was to bypass the traps.

Anyone else heard of this happening?

Not really a glitch from what you described. Lots of players do the fight similarly, usually without triggering the traps though. Or people will trigger the traps on purpose to do damage to Sarevok's party.

Just wondering since the poison didn't hurt me at all

Oh, I see. Was it stinking cloud? It's a poison that just puts you to sleep without doing damage.

Oh Ok. I stand corrected then. Glad to know I used a actual tactic and didn't glitch, I feel less cheap now.

What makes that "tactic" cheese is that the battle ends with the defeat of S and not when everyone is dead.

A design choice that the real devs made years ago that I've always disagreed with.

/shrug. Nothing left to fight for, really. But even if it didn't end with his death, you could continue pulling his companions one by one and manage the fight quite easily.

Which would also be cheesy and cheap.

One man's cheese is another man's clever tactic. I know folks who love BG specifically because this sort of thing is possible--like, say, defeating the final boss of BG2 by laying a few traps while he's distracted. Newer games tend to be stricter about preventing that sort of thing. IMO unless you have some sort of online model or competitive play, people should be able to use whatever tactics they enjoy. If you think something is cheesy, don't do it.

OK, but I'm still going to speak my mind and label cheese as such since I don't see exploiting AI limitations as being clever.
