no it is single player only and the dev's say it will never be multi-player.

weird.... I used to play the older versions of this game on my E machine with friends. We'd huddle around and take turns. I just assumed it would be multi-player... Blargh I guess that's what I get for not doing my research.
Thanks Knightrun529!
:)

It was only the original game in the series, Elemental: War of Magic that had multi-player. Neither Fallen Enchantress, nor Fallen Enchantress:Legendary Heroes ever had multi.

Ya I'm talking about the old school versions of these games. I can't recall the exact name, but it's exactly the same. Minus the multiplayer :( I think it was called "Heroes" of might and magic or something likr that. I bought Legandary Heroes on sale so I'm not too worried. It's still one of my favorite rts but a multi-player experience would have made it a lot nicer. :)

Ahh. Heroes of Might & Magic is definitely an older line of games. However they are completely unrelated. Not even the same genre, although it is a very similar genre. There was no empire management in those games, and no actual city building, you could take over existing cities but not build new ones.

There are newer versions of HoMM available, think they are up to 6 now, so you may want to check those out. I personally haven't played them since HoMM 4 due to the publisher of said games and some of their policies/decisions, but that isn't really a matter for this forum, so I'll skip that. 1 through 4 were definitely some great games though.

Ah.. You're right! I forgot there was no city management in HOMM but that's definitely the game I was thinking about. Perhaps my mind has gotten foggy with the years.
However I am enjoying Legendary Heroes. It's a nice break from more traditional RTSs. Although I have been out of the scene for awhile and don't have much experience with a lot of current titles. I only wish they had incorporated a multi-player component

The same guys who make this, Stardock, also make the GalCiv series of 4x games as well. Their newest (GalCiv3 - in alpha now) does finally have multi-player for those wanting that.

Although none of those have the tactical battles which FE:LH has. They do have the unit customization though.

Btw, more traditional RTS? FE:LH isn't a RTS at all, RTS is always real-time. Definitely nothing real time in FE:LH. Very slow, just how I like my games these days! :)

If you want excellent MP then try out Dominions 4. The graphics are old-school, but the strategy is deep, deep, deep. Very well-supported game with a fanbase that has kept the series going for years.

HoMM5 has city building, but only for 1 pre-existing city per map :/

fallen enchantress is a 4x fantasy game and not really related to rts, but welcome to the merry bunch. 4x (fantasy) games currently relive a renaissance it seems, many title are in the making and were recently released.

Thank you both for clearing that up for me. I'm still new and hadn't heard the term 4x but now that it's been explained, I definitely prefer it. I like to play my games almost like chess and I'm from the south so it's in my blood to go low and slow. : P
GalCiv3 sounds interesting but no tactical battles is kind of a bummer.

well if you wanna know my honest opinion, the best 4x fantasy games atm are for me personally Fallen Enchantress Legendary Heries if you want a overall well balanced fantasy 4x and Age of Wonders 3 if you want a fantasy 4x which focuses more on combat (tactical combat is best in this 4x game (tbs)) and plays almost more like a war game (of course you can build cities but there are that many city improvements).

my favorite 4x space games are distant worlds universe and galciv2. the former was also recently released on steam.
