Level up Causes Game to Stop at "Max level"?
"if you guys would go update normal FE and update this to add an ability to just turn level up points into passive stats indefently or add a level cap because oncey ou obtain all skills in all trees and you level up again your stuck, you have to quit the game because some genius didnt add a function to just not level up..."

I just read this comment in the "1.6 is Live!" sticky. Is this an actual problem with LH? If I play 'too long' and max out, then level up again, am I unable to continue the game?

I want to pick the game up, but I really need a solid answer on whether this actually occurs. I'm the 'plodding' type of person who will make a huge map and just explore it as long as possible, but if this sort of thing occurs it will kind of ruin the game for me. =\

Am I truely able to play as long as I want on a massive world map, or is there always this "max level bottleneck" that will loom over my head and cause me to not continue further?

I think I found a solution for your problem. Some quests will reward you with "Sythe (sic) of the Void" (a two handed sword).

It has 42 Attack (the highest I have seen so far), +1 Counterattack, and -100% Experience % "bonus".

However, if you have bonuses to your exp gain, you will still get whatever those bonuses add up to. For example, if you have "Potential" trait that gives +15% exp, when "Sythe of the Void" is equipped, your champion will get 15% exp instead of 115%. So do not wait untill the last moment to give this weapon to your Sovereign or whoever is nearing the level cap.

PS. This weapon also has the highest price that I have seen so far (408 gildar), and it seemed a bit strange to me considering this -100% Experience % "bonus" it has. But now I can see that it is indeed a bonus in a situation like yours.

Another solution is to group your champions together as they are nearing a level cap. This way, the exp gain is divided evenly between them, which should slow down the leveling up process considerably. Again, do not wait until the last moment.

Yet another thing you can do is play as either Kingdom of Pariden or Kingdom of Rari, or include them in the opponents list during the game setup (you can buy items from other players' shops when you are not at war with them and located within their areas of influence). These two factions have magic scrolls (after they have researched the appropriate technology) that give you the first out of five levels in the four magic school. That's 4x4 — another 16 levels added to he max level cap. As each successive level requires more and more experience gain, those extra 16 levels should keep you busy for quite a while.

Holy Rasputin and Hail Lazarus; you necro'd this from almost five years ago. =D

hahah, thank you for your due diligence however, you gave some very detailed answers and I appreciate that. I may give the game a try now.

To be honest, I didn't at first notice that your thread was from that far back; I found it using the search feature. I just bought this game a couple weeks ago on sale, and it is now my favorite blend of 4X and RPG. Each aspect is exceptionally well done, and you can focus on either one and leave the other in the background, or you can give equal attention to both. This game has the most sophisticated hero development system of all 4X games I have played. Plus the best equipment is found through quests, random events, and random loot from monster lairs and ruins, which provides an element of RNG luck and unpredictability and increases the replayability value.

Another thing to add regarding the hero level cap is that it is very hard to reach due to each successive level requiring more and more experience point, as I have already mentioned. As an example, to reach level 2, you need 10 XP points; to reach level 33, you need 3184 XP points.

The highest I was able to reach is level 32 in 246 turns, and there are still 13 level to go to the general level cap, plus 16 levels in magic schools. (There is a fifth magic school that you can only get at your main hero (sovereign) creation or by sacrificing one of your other hero units that has this magic school trait. Then it is 20 levels more in magic schools instead of 16.)

Hope this helps, and happy gaming.
