is the game just dead now? it wont play on my windows 10 and I think I use to have it in my steam library but dont see it now. does anyone maybe at least have a link to it? I get if stardock wants to erase it from their history but I liked that game.

WoM was never on Steam - only retail and the former Impulse store.

I don't think that game was ever on Steam. The original Fallen Enchantress was, but I believe that is no longer for sale.

AFAIK, the only way to re-download the game is via logging into Stardock's site at the "My Downloads" section.

And yeah, it used to work with Win10, but one of the more recent big updates to Win10 seems to have broken it. Not sure if a newer Win10 update will also accidentally fix it as well, or if some action on Stardock's part will need to be taken.

The game is dead. It changed to Fallen Enchantress. I did get a hold of a copy of War of Magic but it was less complete than a Fall From Heaven mod abandoned 2 weeks in. This game is the real deal. WoM had a few fun things this seems to lack, but this one really does it right. I hope for a sequel.

A long time ago there was a vote as to whether to go back and fix War of Magic or to continue going forward with Fallen Enchantress. People voted for the latter, so I don't think War of Magic is going to be re-released.

Also, as an owner of War of Magic, you are not missing anything important by not playing it.

it doesnt 'do it right' because it doesnt have a geneology system and the traits system is all different. just because you think there are issues with WoM doesnt mean it isnt done right.

What do you mean , "you got a hold of a copy"? As far as I know, the only way to get it was Disc, or as a Download from Stardock. I registered it with Stardock, and still can download it from them. I also was given a beta and key fro Elemental: Fallen Enchantress, then a free version to Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes, when they were released. As for playing it on Windows 10, you could try compatibility mode, or build a cheap windows XP/7 machine. If you find this answer to be less than helpful, sorry, this ain't "Make-A-Wish".

no ones saying that but you. and if you are rudely and clumsily fishing for piracy threats, I have fallen enchantress LH in my library, and clearly probably use to have the first fallen enchantress but remembered that as elemental war of magic, so dont.

clearly, we are discussing a deprecated game, there is nothing constructive about trying to puzzle out copy sources.

as for the actually constructive part of the discussion,

I had already tried compatibility mode both using the xp package 3 (which was commonly used on windows 7 for deprecated games) and the windows 7 compatibility package.

nope, nevermind, I still have both fallen enchant and lh in my library. maybe I did that thing were I told steam to path to a non steam game... whatever the case is.

I honestly doubt an updated version of the original WoM would work. I would totally be down for a remake/sequel on a new engine, however; I wouldn't be able to shovel my money at Stardock fast enough.
