I'm freaked out about playing PVP in RTS Games

I'm not sure why but I've always had a severe aversion to playing RTS online against other people. I have no problems playing with others in FPS or RPG's.

Maybe it invovles a fear of losing or something, does anyone else have this experience?

Any suggestions for getting over it?

I had it when I started playing this. Remember, in FPS, you usually play with like 16+ people. Now, you play with a lot less people and you don't really know what to expect with each of these.

It is the fear of lossing, in FPS games as a rule there are many other people playing so you probably won't be a outright looser, or cause your whole team to loose. I have ladder anxiety with Starcraft ladder haha...

Suggestion: Play more, the more you play the less you should fear/worry in theory and try not to take a loss to personally. It is afterall just a game and its not like you are a major league gamer who makes money off it.

Dude fight against very good players watch the replay and look what they do then play and do the same.
Download Replays of Pros and watch what they are doing.
You have to know to play with all Factions even those you dont like to play in order to know their weaknesses.

don't fear losing..If you won, you have to fight against more powerful player.

I'm in the same boat. I'm normally the type of guy who likes playing in teams on rts. I also like co op games. I don't like online first and 3rd person shooters against other players because I get mad and frustrated. I know it sounds crazy, but I have gotten over my fear of pvp in World of Warcraft.

I use to a long time ago. Something to do with how personal 1vs1 ranked games can be, its like playing chess with someone.

I dont like the multiplayer at all. Its is to hyper.... I like to be able to press pause and take my time. Look over the map and plan strategy assign moves etc.

You are NOT the only one, I never played the multiplayer becose I just have that fear that someone much more skilled will roll me over :D

I think its fear of conflict and screw up.
Worse is if you play team games.

My siggenstion is practice in skermish mode against the AI. After that if you know anyone else who plays do a team game. That way you have someone to help you out. Should be less intimidating, especially once you've built confidence beating the AI.

dont like pvp in rts either lol . im like the other guy i like to pause grab a coffee etc when i want . i am more a grand strategy fan but allways have liked coh and dow for some reason i guess its cause they are undoubtedly well made games
