Confused About CoH Collection In Steam Library
So far this game seems amazing! but I wonder why there are two entries for it in my games library. It's CoH (new steam version) and CoH: Tales of Valor. But I also have Opposing Fronts listed under the dlc tab. To add to the confusion I actually won (and activated) Tales of Valor from a giveaway a while ago and that caused both entries to appear (new steam version and tales of valor) yet I could only play the ToV campaign (which sounds normal). Sooo... this is how my main menu looks: http://i.imgur.com/ho0lb7a.jpg and here's a shot from my library http://i.imgur.com/tqWkL5O.jpg and last but not least the dlc tab http://i.imgur.com/HRIxqNW.jpg So, do I have to download the separate tales of valor or do I simply have full content with the new steam version? Does it even matter if I activated a ToV key and then a collection key? Thanks!

CoH used different server host once, but it has been bought by Ubisoft and they kicked Relic from their previous servers. They were ready to continue paying for hosting, but Ubi probably has other plans with those servers. So, in order to keep the game running they moved it to Steam, thus you have New Steam Version in your library, and OF and ToV are now listed as DLCs. They are woriking on removing those old versions, since you cant play MP in them, but NSV has some issues since its not ported properly, they were in a hurry and over their heads with CoH2 and THQ banckruptcy.

I see. So will they actually be updating the game? Or is it a lost cause? And I'm guessing it won't make a difference if I buy a physical copy because the mp won't work. But how about the campaign, is that fully playable? I just read about input lag, I haven't had much time to properly play the game, still have to finish half of the tutorial missions. Thanks!

MP isnt working in those old versions, its working in NSV. Although not very great, like I said - there were issues with porting. But they are working on it, new Battle Server tech which is on route for CoH2 should make its way to CoH1 as well one day. At least I got that impression from that interview with devs on Sunday Night Fights tournament.

I hope so! I actually want to play the original before trying the second game. So basically right now I have full content and can play the campaigns, right :-/ there are two mission sets per game/dlc. Just want to make sure I'm getting this right :))

Normandy Invasion is fully featured campaign from original, Market Garden and Caen Liberation are campaigns from Opposing Fronts expansion, and those last 3 mini-campaigns are from the last expansion ToV. You have all 4 factions and all units, you are good to go.

Awesome! Thanks so much for taking the time to explain all this :D I will leave this thread alive in case someone else is also confused about this.
I was just going to ask this same question. Now I understand more clearly. Still, I am very dissapointed as CoH multiplayer was pretty badass. I am looking to playing it on Steam. After reading the comment about it not being that great, I can totally understand that, just look at how poor Steam is at keeping friends connected to games, or even just steam voice chat! >:[
