Error when launching skirmishes
Hi,

Hope someone can help with this, please. Up until very recently (as in, 2-3 days ago) everything was working fine. Now I get an error when launching skirmishes - 'An error occurred while starting the game'.

I've verified all the files, checked the graphics drivers are up to date, deleted the 'temp.rec' file in the playback folder (as recommended in other threads), even uninstalled and reinstalled Company of Heroes entirely - but still receiving the same error message.

I get a feeling it's something server-side, but I'm out of ideas and happy to try anything now. So any ideas would be gratefully accepted, thanks!

Double-check you deleted the correct "temp.rec", because for example on my machine, I have three, for different games.

Thanks for the tip - yep, I think I deleted the correct one as there's only one other temp.rec file, and that's for CoH2.

That's... alot of text. Any idea how much of this is already written prior to your clicking the "Skirmish" button?

Maybe try also the "Multiplayer" button and see what happens, after all I think you can host "Skirmish" through that too. Do the campaigns work by the way?

Screenshots might help. You can also try running Steam itself as administrator, or run Steam and CoH through a VPN since you suspect there is a networking problem.

I'm hoping you are running CoH and not CoH legacy?

Hi, and sorry for the text dump. And yep, campaigns were working.

Thanks again for your time, and I found the culprit - the Zyxel router had apparently changed it's own settings from medium security to high, and was blocking a ton of stuff. Moved it back to medium and skirmish mode worked again. :)
