I can't remeber, but do you have to pruchase the commander point upgrade for the tank to repair. Otherwise I am not too sure.

Or maybe you have to switch off direct fire mode or something of the tank, to disable the weapon.

I do not think you can repair it it just reapirs itself once broken down after time they talk about fixing it and to hurry and you hear them tinkering away with tools.
You just have to wait and then they finaly finish it but if you want to reapir it from normal damage you cant its about holding on to the tank and not letting it be destroyed to get the reward.

that initial engine repair script works fine but after that is where i have troubles. the icon is not clickable and it says "Requires: Weapon is not enabled". i googled and couldnt find a solutons. doesnt matter what i do, moving, standing still, being in or out of combat, having manual fire enabled or not, ... died on my first try same bug on second try

There is no way to repair your tank.

The mission requires you to be conservative with the hit points of the tank.

Try and use the direct fire mode on your tiger you can hit with greater accuracy and at a much greater distance to minimise your damage on your tank than you will manage with the default point and click

This is especially important on the higher levels of diffiulty

I think if you try the tiger ace mission on the hardest available level of difficulty you can not repair the tank from demage on your own besides of the auto repair points.

You have to be out of combat to repair IIRC.

nope, doesnt work when there are no enemies in sight/range and i saw someone play the mission on youtube who repaired it just fine in the middle of combat

It seems you have seen a video on youtube of mission 3 on the same map where you can repair then. In mission 1 it is not possible to repair manually in normal difficulty mode. Try it maybe in easy mode.
