CoH / CoH:ToV CONFLICT
I have been trying to boot up CoH (base game) and every time, it loads up CoH:ToV.
Weirdly, when I boot up CoH:ToV, it asks for me to enter the CD, which I no longer have.

I used to have the game on a CD and I linked it with my Steam account years ago. From what I can vaguely remember, I think a couple of years after, CoH:ToV was being released on Steam for free and so for some reason, I think I ‘purchased’ it (don’t ask why!).

Net result, is that I have two different version of CoH on my Steam account:

1) Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor – Thirdparty Retail (includes CoH, CoH (new steam version) ToV and CoH:ToV)
2) Company of Heroes Complete Pack (in contradiction to the name, it only includes CoH:ToV)

I felt the best way to resolve this issue may be to permanently remove one of the versions from my account permanently, thus removing any conflictions.

I have been able to permanently remove version 1 from my account and I still have the same issue; I have since re-instated it.

I have attempted to remove version 2 however, when I try, I get the following error message:
‘There was an unexpected error removing this product from your account.’

I have tried restarting, waiting hours etc and still cannot remove version 2 from my account.
Unfortunately, as I mentioned, I do not have the original CD and so, I cannot just re-install it as a non-steam game.

I would appreciate if anyone could advise on:

a) why I cannot remove version 2 permanent from my account & if there is a work-around?
b) If not, what can I do next that allows me to play CoH (base)?

I was considering just re-purchasing it again however, if I cannot remove these buggy versions from my account, I fear I will end up with the same problem!

Hi, dear friend.
You should use the steam version. the older versions are no longer supported. You should buy them to have the DLCs but you can't access them there. You will access all of them in the steam version.

When you see the game while its open, you can see 6 campaigns on the screen, Invasion of Normandy (The main campaign), Operation Market Garden and Liberation of Caen (Opposing Fronts), Tiger Ace and Causeway and Falaise pocket (Tales of Valor).

You can open each of them and play them as well. It doesn't matter when you open the game which artwork shows up.

You can also use all factions you purchased in the multiplayer too.

I think I already own the Steam version as it is simply CoH, not the legacy version?

Also, as I already have CoH in the Steam library, it won’t allow me to purchase it again from the store - and I can't permanently remove it from my library?

Yes, it's not the legacy version and included all you bought.
I sent you the picture for it in the last post.

Why do you want to purchase it again? Why do you want to remove it?

Sorry if I wasn't clear.

I wanted to purchase it again, so I have a clean version of CoH and it's expansions. At the moment, whichever version I run, it only loads up and recognises ToV, which gives me quite limited access.

The problem is, I cannot physically purchase CoH again in the store, as it tells me that I already own the game - that is why I want to permanently remove it, but I doesn't allow me to.

There is no need to remove that product and buy it again. You may buy these 2 game versions to complete your collection:
