Graphics problem
I just downloaded COH, along with the Tales of Valor and the Opposing Fronts add-ons, to my new laptop. The game interface works fine until I enter the Skirmish play mode. The whole map is very patchy with splotches of green and black everywhere. I've looked at other posts for solutions but nothing I've tried yet has worked. My laptop runs Windows 10 and COH2 works excellently. For some reason, though, I can't get the original COH games to play correctly. I've spent the better part of the past two days trying to find a fix but nothing has worked at all so far.

What am I doing wrong here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You see here a few files..
Open Local.ini with Notepad.
Change the line
'screendevice=DirectX10 rendering device'
in
'screendevice=DirectX9 rendering device'

Save and start COH....

After editing the Local.ini file, you have Custom settings inside COH. Changing to automatic settings, will put the DirectX10 rendering device back in the Local.ini file.

Yes, it was the first thing I did. I tried pretty much everything but it still didn't fix the problem.

The only thing I can think of is that I might be running it in DX10, but I don't know how to check that nor how to change it to DX9.

Very much appreciated! I was beginning to wonder whether I'd ever get those games back.
Yeah, I saw in your guide where you mentioned that the DX9/10 issue could cause problems but I had no idea how to adjust it. So, now when I go to play COH2, will I need to switch it back to DX10?

You mean to dx9 ? Try running coh2 and then go back to coh and see in local.ini if it changed

Is this simply changing the number 10 to the number 9?
