Tales of Valor and Opposing Fronts
Hello.
I´ve been playing Company of Heroes for a while. But just the regular or "New Steam Version". However, I´d like to play as the British forces and as Panzer Elite.
Would I have to buy Tales of Valor or Opossing Fronts for that? I still don´t know what the difference between them is.

Opposing Fronts is what you need to play as the other factions.

But, when I try to select, say, the Brutish forces on a multiplayer match. It tells me I have to buy ToV
Yeah playing as the other forces British and Panzer in multiplayer requires the expansion, that's why it's telling you to buy them. Like waitandsee said OF is the one that has those units.

If you get Opposing Fronts you'll have access to the four multiplayer armies then. The Americans and British as well as Wehrmacht and Panzer Elite.

Buying Tales of Valor will add 3 multiplayer modes, a few more campaign missions and some new units and modes.

I have Tales of Valor, not Opposing Fronts, and I can play the British and Panzer Elite. Admittedly I always play skirmish mode, not multiplayer, in case that's important.

Just to be specific:

The regular Company of Heroes lets you play as the Americans and Wehrmacht, as well as unlocking the Normandy campaign.

Opposing Fronts is a standalone DLC which unlocks the Commonwealth and Panze Elite armies, as well as Operation Market Garden and the Liberation of Caen campaigns. It DOES NOT let you play as the Americans or Wehrmacht, though. Opposing Fronts DOES NOT give you reward units.

Tales of Valor is the other standalone DLC unlocks all 4 armies, as well as the reward units and Operations game mode. It also unlocks the Trun, Causeway and Tiger Ace campaigns(If you can even call them that, lol).

I personally own OF and ToV and have access to everything except the Normandy campaign.

So if I already have the standard Company of Heroes and I buy Opposing Fronts, I'll be able to play as all 4 armies?

No - if you already have the standard Company of Heroes and I buy Tales of Valor, you'll be able to play as all 4 armies.

Technically, yes. Alternatively, you can buy Tales of Valor for all the armies plus some extra reward units. Refer to Repulsive Bushman´s post, as it offers the more in depth explanation of all those posted here.

Ok basically if you buy OF while already having the base Company of Heroes game this what you should have:

US, UK, Wehrmacht, and Panzer Elite armies to use for skirmish/multiplayer.
Invasion of Normandy - fifteen mission US campaign from the base game.
Operation Market Garden - eight mission Panzer Elite campaign from OF.
Liberation of Caen - nine mission UK campaign from OF.

And that's it for the two games CoH with OF. Now on the main menu there will be six single player campaigns listed there. Unlocking all 6 campaigns for single player requires that you own all three games, Company of Heroes, Opposing Fronts, and Tales of Valor.

Tales of Valor bought by itself without having either CoH base game or Opposing Fronts will give you the four armies for skirmish/multiplayer. It also has three short mini campaigns:

Tiger Ace
Causeway
Falaise Pocket

It also has the three new multiplayer modes called operations: Assault, Stonewall, and Panzerkrieg. Seven new units to replace ones for multiplayer.

I think a lot of the confusion from the way they did this was seperation of single player and skirmish/multiplayer. If you want all four armies for multiplayer/skirmish and don't care about campaign play then I would buy Tales of Valor.

If you do want to play all 6 single player campaigns, you must buy all three games CoH, OF, and ToV.

Single player campaigns between the three games breaks down as:

CoH - One single player
OF - Two single player
ToV- Three mini short single player

Yes. If you have ToV, then you can play all four armies regardless of what other DLC you have.

Well put. This is probably the best way I've ever seen each DLC explained and what buying them unlocks you.

Thanks a lot for the help, people. I was really confused.
Glad to be of service.

Thanks for this post. I just installed the "New Steam" Version, while owning the two DLCs, and got confused since the game is titled with "Tales of Valor" and they don't tell you what campaign belongs to which DLC.

So to summarise, it's:
Invasion of Normandy - Base Game
Operation Market Garden - Opposing Forces
Liberation of Caen - Opposing Forces
Tiger Ace - Tales of Valor
Causeway - Tales of Valor
Falaise Pocket - Tales of Valor
