What worked for me, a non tech guy who doesn't know how to edit complex settings or files which were suggested on other discussion boards, was to delete the configuration.LUA and Local.INI files in the COH folder (Documents -> My Games -> Company of Heroes Relaunch folder). Somehow this tricks the game into thinking that it is running for the first time and doesn't apply what must be screwy graphics settings which cause the glitch, probably instructions contained within one of the two files. These two files are "regenerated" every time you launch the game, so you'll need to delete them before launching each time, but it is a minor hassle. Saved games and other functions, are unaffected as far as i can tell. Caveat: I only play the single player campaigns
COH is one of my fave games of all time and i was so happy when i managed to figure this trick out after hours of trial and error, reinstalling etc. Good luck!
I had the same problem and fixed it. Not 100% on what did it but I can point you the right direction.
First what caused it for me. Game was working fine for a couple days, I alt tabbed out to look up something, and after that it stopped working correctly. Black scratchy things, some models didnt display, bla bla bla.
So the fix.
Idea A: Go to the game's Main Menu > Options > Graphics > "Performance Test". Apply their suggestion. See if that works.
Idea B: If not A, try tampering with the resolution, I believe this has something to do with the problem.
Idea C: On the desktop, right click your game's icon, hit compatibility, check "compatibility mode", select windows 7, hit apply. This one works for other games with similar problems, if this game and issue are one I'm not positive. I'm pretty sure A is what fixed mine, but wanted to give another idea just in case.
Best of luck!
Idea A worked for me, thank you!
