I’d love something to use all the maxed out weapons on, like a harder NG+ where upgrades carry over (not traversal items though). When I beat the game my highest level weapon was only level 3. Obviously that wouldn’t be an easy addition though and the game was great fun as is.
25 map markers is not enough. I ran out of map markers in area 2, and had to stop using them for chests and only mark power ups, resulting in even more backtracking to check for chests again. It would be nice if there were different kind of markers, but that would be a nice to have. If possible, up the amount to 50 or 100... let people mark away.
After finishing the game, or just before the last boss, it would be nice if all save points opened up for fast traveling.
NG+ would be nice, especially since the trophies want you to reply the game at least twice. Your first run, then a speed run for the normal difficulty and one for the old school difficulty.
Since that means playing the game 3 times, it would be nice if you could at least do one of those with the power ups from the previous run.
I'm really enjoying the game, but I don't think will platinum this one, as I've spend so much time backtracking and running around as a headless chicken trying to find the map rooms, that I don't think I can do 2 more runs in it's current state... Plus I normally like to explore, and the speed run trophies limit that. I don't normally mind one speed run, but 4 speed run trophies is just to much, even if you can do two of those in the same run if you're quick enough.
The power upgrades don't pack any punch... Your main attack goes from 1x to 1.15x the damage. And you have to find 3 blue prints for that upgrade. The next one takes the damage to 1.28x, again for finding 3 blue prints.
I don't see how this could easily be fixed, but for future titles look into the reward vs effort. Aka, a 15% damage increase is ok, but for 1 blue print, not 3. It takes quite a bit of exploring to get those 3 blue prints...
The underwater sections are absolutely gorgeous... kudos!
And the power ups are all a lot of fun (the character movement upgrades).
Kind regards,
Michael
The graphics are beautiful and the action is fine. However, There are two perhaps fatal flaws in this game. One is a lack of a fast-travel feature. The other is the lack of signposts.
# a lack of fast-travel
The map is large and intricate, but the lack of fast travel is too inconvenient. Too many games severely limit fast travel, even in other metroidvanias. As a general rule, the creators should accept the fact that this only detracts from the user experience and adds no value to it.
For a game with a large and intricate map, fast travel is one of the minimum features that a game should have, and the lack of it is exactly the same as an action game where you can't fight!
Imagine that. If Eldenring did not have fast travel between save points, it would be a fatal flaw.
The specification that the place where you died is displayed on the map and you have to return there to retrieve the currency you dropped is also incompatible with no fast travel.
The map is so large and intricate that it is a hassle to return to it. Therefore, in many cases, you have to give up. What happens if you keep doing that? A lot of skull marks will appear on the map.
If you can fast travel between save points, it's a different story. You can easily go back to retrieve them later.
# a lack of signposts
Where is the next boss? Where should we go next? Where is the map of the new area? There is no information on these questions.
The Eldenring has a number of save points where you are given signposts to which direction you should head. That is supposed to guide you to the last boss. The reason for this is simple: the map is large enough to allow free exploration.
Now Mobius Machine is just like playing Eldenring without a guide!
I'll say it again because it's important.
- The near non-existence of fast travel is pointlessly inconvenient for the user, just like playing Eldenring without the fast travel feature!
- In a game that allows users to freely explore vast maps, the lack of a guided function is fatal. This is just another pointless inconvenience for the user.
Cloud Saves definitely, I just re-imaged my steam deck and lost a 4hour save doh!
And yes steam deck optimizations, I lock it at 45 fps as the dips are too frequent and too jarring if left at 60fps.
In theory the Steam Deck verification is underway.
You can unlock the FPS in the settings, however we highly recommend that you play with vsync on, if you have a monitor with higher than 60fps refresh rate the game will run at that rate.
