What is your opinion on the 2005 DOOM movie?
I heard it was in development hell for 10 years from 1995 to 2005 with various script changes and casting and searching for a director, and film making studios

the one we got with Karl Urban and Dwayne Johnson "The Rock" in 2005 was okay in my opinion but the movies demons where just generic mutated creatures, but the FPS scene was cool and least faithful to the games. still a fun movie after 19 years better than annhilation from 2019. despite the 2005 movie being based off DOOM 3.

Doom comic is Shakespeare compared to that movie.

Of course, Doom comic is Shakespeare compared to Shakespeare so.

Haven't watched it myself but its dissapointing to hear the monsters are just mutated creatures. Most game movies suck, resident evil especially. Only game movie I saw that was decent was wreck it ralph and mortal kombat 1.
Not that awful pointless sequel though, but MK1 was fun, did everything I expected from the game while still not making it overly gorey or horrifying for the kids. Cause you knew that movie was gonna attract kids.

I don't really care about over the top violence as long as the theme fits. We saw some violence, but what did anyone expect scorpion or sub zero to brutally kill liu kang? He's also a badass, so is johnny cage. It was funny when cage went up against goro and everyone was so worried about him. Like cage wasn't gonna win..

It had it it's moments. Also, pretty good in comparision with crap like monster hunter movie or the upcoming minecraft one.

it's from the same bargain bin as the tomb raider movies, but it can never truly attain the artful heights of spy kids 2.

Go in with the right mindset and you'll have a good time. Don't expect an award winner. Keep your tongue firmly in cheek. It's an action film starring The Rock, come on. It's got some cool fan service.

Viewers who are not familiar with the game or some of the easter-egg name drops won't have a good time. Viewers who are familiar will have a good time if they know what to expect.

If you're not sober, it helps.

To be fair, that helps a lot of bad movies.

Even better if it's a good bad movie.
Wouldn't be so bad if they had cast Sam Hyde the only good cyberdemon from hell.

The 2005 movie definitely understood Doom a little bit better than the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that is Annihilation. That movie was just Universal phoning it in and going thru the motions with some cheap producers to renew the rights to make more Doom movies.

The funny part of the Minecraft trailer where the old man yells at the young steve where the sign says "NO KIDS ALLOWED AT MINING" and the old man chases kid steve.

It was pretty bad, I saw it in theaters back then. The only truly enjoyable part was the first person sequence at the end. I thought they did perfect with the casting of Dwayne Johnson as the Shotgun Zombie though. Definitely a guilty pleasure.

The film should of been made in 1995 with the demons instead of 2005 with the generic mutated creatures like Resident Evil (2002). i wished they made a Splatterhouse movie in 1994.

Definitely would have been better if made in the 90s. Also don't forget they weren't just generic mutants they were people given an extra chromosome that made them turn into mutant monsters, with few people getting super powers instead. It was really dumb even by Hollywood's usual low standards. Wouldn't be surprised if they got inspired by the Resident Evil movie and figured they'd rework it into a Doom movie.
