Do you like the new weapons?
Personally, I expected more.

Flame thrower and that "big bolt gun" (or however it's called) are ok I guess, but you can't actually set enemies on fire like in Brutal DooM and the bolt gun is basically the BFG with (visually) bigger spread.

They're basically re-skins rather than fully new weapons, but the prototype versions of DooM had more interesting stuff like an assault rifle, bayonet, etc.

DooM II introduced the Super Shotgun, and that was a big addition, but what about stuff like dual handguns, assault rifle, etc?

Sure, you could mod these into the game too, but there is no "game changer" new weapons, or a "dual slot" system at the least (I will refer to Brutal DooM here again, which added multiple slots).

I'm an avid "deathmatcher" and I have to say you do not need more than one weapon per slot in a competitive MP environment, which is what Quake III Arena showcased well, but if you have more weapons on dispose, like, for example, in Quake II, it can make things more varied, too.

But in a single-player environment, there's really no need for such restrictions - the more aresnal the better, although you'll probably mostly use just the "powerful" weaponry, as soon as you get hold of it.

Thoughts?

No, I've seen better weapons in mods.

I'm not particularly fond of the flamethrower, but it DOES do damage over time. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ miserable to use it on stairs, though. Mostly when going up them.

And the calamity blade is a lot better when you realize you can charge it. I think the bfg is overall a better weapon(I doubt someone will write a dissertation on how the calamity blade functions. Same can't be said for the bfg...), but I don't think the calamity blade is bad. Shame it can't vertical auto aim due to a bug with it though.
