Interesting Features
Some things I've noticed/found out while messing around with this new port the last few days:

-You can replace the DOOM wads in the game file folders with whatever version of DOOM/DOOM 2 you want to. This means you can play THIS PORT with a version that has things like red crosses on med kits, or the original Nazi/Swastikas in the Wolfenstein levels. It only works with DOOM wads though, I tried it with Heretic and it does not work, game just crashes.
-I have this on both Steam and GOG. When launching the GOG version it somehow connects with the Steam version and syncs the cloud saves, even with install files in completely different locations.
-The Unity ports are still available in the Betas tab if you want to go back and play that version for whatever reason.

If you want to play Heretic. Try out DSDA Doom. It supports Heretic and Hexen too.

(You might want a widescreen assets pack for hexen thought.)

Oh I already run Heretic/Hexen with GZDOOM/Crispy/Chocolate/etc. I was just curious the limits of this new port.

Or you can just use the console command
d_iwad "location and name of the original wad"
and then
refreshgame
But make sure that the wad is named differently, for example DOOMII.WAD instead of DOOM2.WAD, otherwise the game will simply load its default wad. You can also use the folder C:\Users\<Username>\Saved Games\Nightdive Studios\DOOM\, the game will see it as a game directory.
