I think what he means is download the latest version of DOSbox (0.74) and replace the old DOSbox files (0.72) in your Ultimate Doom/base folder with the new ones. I had the color issue and this worked for me.

If you don't want download anything, and you are on windows, open up task manager and close explorer.exe, it fixes texture glitches for most, if not all old games, including non-dosbox ones.

Can't quite remember but i think I replaced the DOSBox in the game's directory with a more up to date version or something

Gzdoom has an issue with brutal doom where revenant rockets don't home when shot by the player though...

DOSBox should be somewhere in the game's Steam folder...most likely C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\<game folder>\DOSBOX

When launching a DOS game from Steam, it will automatically launch DOSBox for the game. Since DOOM on Steam apparently comes with an old version of DOSBox, downloading the latest 0.74 DOSBox version and using that to run the game, might fix some issues.
