With keyboard you only have 2 speeds... Walking or Running.. nothing in between. With a controller you can even go slower than walking or anything in between walking and running. Feels great.
You can also, much more accurately, control your momentum when running between gaps to make sure to stop exactly where you want without falling over on the other side.
You can't even make that old argument about mouse aim with this one because it literally doesn't matter. Doom is a lot more about movement than aim and analog stick movement trumps over digital WSAD in any game.
That's not my point.. not which is faster, but which is more precise, You can't control speed on keyboard.
It's like playing a racing game on keyboard pressing the arrow keys to accelerated vs playing it on a controller using the analog trigger to accelerate (or a pedal).
The keyboard gets you at full press of the accelerator instantly, but you don't have control over it.
Annoying level like the Chasm in Doom 2, feels a lot easier with a controller due to the precision.
Arguing that a controller is more precise when it's an objectively worse option for high level play is absurd.
