I like some of the retro stuff, but I get it on sale. The price for this game is obscene. No, thank you. I'll just play what I already have.
Og Doom: huge impact on my life, the perfect experience for a 10 yo. I'd play until I had to lie down from dizzyness.
Doom II: Oh man...
Doom 64: played the og TC on pc, fine dining.
PSX Doom: there's something special about this one, also, fine dining.
Doom 3: the hype train between Half life 2 and D3 was immense, and I was fully onboard, choochoo! (it paid off, I have replayed both multiple times)
Doom 2016: yet another hype train, and again it paid off, replayed it multiple times back and forth.
Eternal: less hype somehow for me personally. Beat the main campaign, still have to get into the expansions. It's a great game, especially halfway. But...
Dark Ages: So far it looks like a good time. But it also looks like "more of the same".
I don't hate it, at all, but I'm not on the edge of my seat either.
When I think Doom, I think of spacestations that are gathering dust on Mars, a slight mist hangin in the air. 5 lonely minutes trying to figure out how to get to the other part of the map and then once that door opens 5 minutes of intense action battling inhuman monstrocities.
And they kinda keep that formulla intact, but they seem to want to add too much unto it.
Instead of going all mythological power fantasy I'd kinda wanna see em return to a Doom 3 sort of experience. Maybe not as dark in tone but deffinatly have a normal human soldier fight the forcess of hell.
I'll say it, I'd love to see what Doom 4 would have become eventually. It's not fast but maybe that's exactly the kinda game I'd want it to be.
there is some sort of edit at the start of the game play section if ID's 11 minute video, showing doom guy jumping over a chasm, then possibly climbing up the cliff. it felt off like maybe there was a double jump or something similar they didn't want the audience to see. hard to say exactly.
Dark Ages promises to be basically more of the same type of gameplay - so I'll be ignoring it. Glad others are looking forward to it though.
You need a GOOD RTX card. People who own a 20 series probably won't be able to play it at all.
