The price of distractions is steep. I'm not in the least bit interested in any of it anymore.

I like some of the retro stuff, but I get it on sale. The price for this game is obscene. No, thank you. I'll just play what I already have.

I'm on the fence

Og Doom: huge impact on my life, the perfect experience for a 10 yo. I'd play until I had to lie down from dizzyness.
Doom II: Oh man...
Doom 64: played the og TC on pc, fine dining.
PSX Doom: there's something special about this one, also, fine dining.
Doom 3: the hype train between Half life 2 and D3 was immense, and I was fully onboard, choochoo! (it paid off, I have replayed both multiple times)
Doom 2016: yet another hype train, and again it paid off, replayed it multiple times back and forth.
Eternal: less hype somehow for me personally. Beat the main campaign, still have to get into the expansions. It's a great game, especially halfway. But...
Dark Ages: So far it looks like a good time. But it also looks like "more of the same".
I don't hate it, at all, but I'm not on the edge of my seat either.

When I think Doom, I think of spacestations that are gathering dust on Mars, a slight mist hangin in the air. 5 lonely minutes trying to figure out how to get to the other part of the map and then once that door opens 5 minutes of intense action battling inhuman monstrocities.

And they kinda keep that formulla intact, but they seem to want to add too much unto it.
Instead of going all mythological power fantasy I'd kinda wanna see em return to a Doom 3 sort of experience. Maybe not as dark in tone but deffinatly have a normal human soldier fight the forcess of hell.

I'll say it, I'd love to see what Doom 4 would have become eventually. It's not fast but maybe that's exactly the kinda game I'd want it to be.
What a man. Un-unagreeable
Superhero Parkour game, no thanks

You need a serious rig to run this one, doubt anyone complaining about the price even has a computer that can run Doom 3.

Meanwhile not a single jump was shown in any of the gameplay. I wonder if jumping was removed altogether.

i think there will be at least some little jumping sections, secondary things maybe... or maybe they are 100% gone, maybe it will really be without any platforming... we will see...

there is some sort of edit at the start of the game play section if ID's 11 minute video, showing doom guy jumping over a chasm, then possibly climbing up the cliff. it felt off like maybe there was a double jump or something similar they didn't want the audience to see. hard to say exactly.
I love Doom but 2016 and Eternal(with the filler DLC) burned me out on the newer stuff. The multi in Eternal also sucked a$$ imo and Dark Ages will probably be just the same,2016 at least had a team deathmatch. Nah it's a pass for me,I'll stick to the vanilla old school and the treasure trove of mods that's out there.
It looks even worse than Eternal. It's trying something new, and I can respect that, but new isn't inherently good. I mean, focus on melee combat in DOOM? Really? And the melee combat seems to suffer from the same problem that a lot of modern games do, where attacks automatically snap near the enemy, what I believe is an attempt to make the animations look smoother or something. Then there's the setting, the new mechanics such as mounts, and a parrying system à la Dark Souls, because soulslikes are the new hot stuff, huh? It's simply not DOOM. But then again, neither 2016 nor Eternal were DOOM, so I can't say I'm surprised.
No interest in it whatsoever. I'm one of the tiny minority of people who genuinely hated Doom 2016 - and yes I know this will seem bizarre to many people, as the game is very well-loved by the majority, but it just wasn't to my taste at all.

Dark Ages promises to be basically more of the same type of gameplay - so I'll be ignoring it. Glad others are looking forward to it though.

It's a lot closer to classic doom gameplay than 2016 gameplay.

Obviously, all my thoughts about Dark Ages are negative.

The price alone fully destroyed any interest I had.
Then I guess your interest has been fully destroyed for literally every single new game that releases. Better stick to old games then, that way the prices won't destroy your interest.

Even if Dark Ages was $1 or free, I still wouldn't play the game. If I somehow get a key from somewhere, I wouldn't use it and just give it away. Don't even want the darn game.
not entirely accurate many of these overpriced games eventually get sold for cheap if not on Steam, then Humble Bundle, Fanatical, and other keys sites.
Messaggio originale di Captain n00by:
It looks fun, but that price of entry?

80 bucks for base game, 100 for "full version".

RTX card, 16 core CPU and NVME SSD required.

No multiplayer.

Premium version comes without all DLC.

I dunno, this just sounds like a very expensive game for what it offers.

You need a GOOD RTX card. People who own a 20 series probably won't be able to play it at all.
Not a fan adding "parry" and it looks like we going 200% over the top (could argue original also did for its time) still it will sound/look/play great. Will it be like doom/doom II? No but they found successful formula and will play around it
