Game is crashing a lot!
I'm playing through Doom 2, and the game has crashed three times in the past 20 minutes. Did the update break anything?

It's the game, a lot of people seem to be having this issue since the last patch. Some people have been able to get around it by switching from Vulkan to DX11 or software in the graphics options, but as I just found out that isn't a permanent fix. I suspect they are going to have to actually address this ♥♥♥♥ or it will continue to be a growing problem.

Try uninstalling, then reinstalling, your video game, clearing your computer of any excessive, and/or unwanted, files, and also shutting down any unnecessary programs on your computer. Doing that might fix your issues with the game.

Damn, I hope ID fixes this soon.
So far, DX11 seems to be working just fine. Hopefully, they figure out what's causing issues with Vulkan, not that Doom is the type of game to strictly demand certain API's since it should run flawlessly on everything at this point.

Try using different API. Vulkan works for me the best.
I'm running with ProtonGE on Linux and so far 0 crashes. It starts stuttering sometimes, but it's a known Proton issue.

same for me, only I haven't had stuttering either.
It looks like crashes are connected with saving/loading process, when i got crashes they were in maps where i made a save before some tough spot, and if i never reloaded - no crashes.

Use the wads in your Sourceport of choice, personally the kex engine feels off.
It crashes a lot when pressing F5 for save and F9 for loading on the master levels.

Try not using automap. I don't experience any crushes when I don't use it, and the game always crushes instantly or in couple of minutes once I've opened it.

use crispydoom or any sourceport thats actually good
After I finish Map 14 the game keeps crashing for me at the post-mission screen.
