Fixed: Mouse control in vanilla DOOM & DOOM II
Hi all, I just got Ultimate DOOM and DOOM II Steam versions today and immediately put together fixes for both of them to disable the mouse y-axis, making them control much more like modern shooters.

Also included are tweaked config files to deliver the correct 4:3 aspect ratio, slightly better pixel smoothing and some tweaks to enable more sound channels.

Download the fixes from my Dropbox, here..

DOOM II:

To install, just extract the appropriate zip file directly into your DOOM program folder. An easy way to find the folder is right-click the game in your Steam library, choose Properties, then click Browse Local Files... on the Local Files tab.

Feel free to check the files out with your virus and malware scanners - there's nothing sinister In there.

Enjoy! :D

PS: I also have similar fixes for Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny - see here. ;)

Edited 17.2.2016 Doesnt work :/ extract all the files from zip to inside game folder and got sudden crash everytime when I try to launch the game :/
Try going into your config file and change these options:

change fulldouble=true to fulldouble=false
output=surface to output=ddraw (that one might already be like that though)
and
aspect=false to aspect=true

Hopefully that'll work for you

Edit: Forgot, you have to fix fulldouble and output (if not already like that) in both ultimate.conf and ultimatem.conf, but you only have to fix aspect in ultimatem.conf I think

Appreciate the fix mate :) However, there are slight problems after I overwritten the base folder with yours:

1) The screen resolution becomes "boxed" and it's no longer fitted to the screen.
2) There are numerous numbers and codes that happen before the game launches to the menu.
3) I can't load my previous save without crashing the game.

Wow. Thank you, GeeTee. That fix works great.

could it be possible for you to do this for Master Levels?

Does it work for Doom BFG edition, that includes DOOM I & II??

It doesn't work with my PC, is it because it doesn't run on Windows 10?

The "correct" resolution for doom is 320x200 stretched to 4:3. I don't think there is a way to emulate that.

does it invalidate/ block achievements?

This link is bad, is there another way of fixing it?
GeeTee May 17, 2017 @ 3:57pm
Bah, it seems Dropbox has disabled public folders for free users. I'll look for another solution and update the link ASAP.
