Still Im not gonna exclude myself from fun art cause some guys done bad things. Plenty of controversial artists out there that's work we all love.
Playing something different on a Doom skin really doesn't appeal to me.
And you're absolutely right!
I cannot seriously fathom people that claims they love BD while also saying that (vanilla) Doom is "boring" or "outdated".
It's like someone claiming that the Mona Lisa is too old and that a 3D recreation in CGI is de facto better.
I'd even say that it's absolutely arrogant when someones acts as if a mod made by someone using more modern technologies and engine (because GZDoom is basically its own engine) is objectively better than what the original devs have done disregarding their technical limitations and creativity to even produce the game to begin with.
Others mods and mapsets shouldn't comply to be BD compatible as if it was the messiah of the Doom franchise...
Criticism of a mod isn't the same as fighting people who liked or played it.
And once again on the Internet when you're showing any form of disagreement or divergence you're qualified as fighting.
Hope you are talking about the internet and you not agree with that, because now sorry if I get "out of character" A bit, but as someone that has been a pseudo-amateur critic, that is the most superficial, ignorant, tragic, immature thing I've EVER read... Sorry, disagree is not fighting, fighting means that you are searching for a victory or something, you can disagree without caring too much about it, fighting can be rare times good, most of the time is toxic behavior, personally when someone has a different opinion than me, I get curious and try to understand it, and respect it, very rare times I don't respect an opinion, and if I respect it, THEN IT'S NOT fighting, sorry... Now I'm 100% serious, sorry but it's not fighting... I don't get if you agree with what you said or you were just showing how internet works, but I'm gonna disagree and fight that, yeah I said it because I'm being honest... I'm not afraid to totally fight that, and don't reply with some tricky BS like "you are against fight but you fight"... Sorry
(I apologize too for going off topic, just in case)
It appeals to people who can't appreciate Doom for what it is: simple, fast paced action.
The mod's popularity has given it the reputation of being the ultimate way to experience Doom, when that's not true at all.
It changes the gameplay too much, to the point where it’s no longer Doom.
Iron sights, reloading, and executions have no place in Doom because they go against its fast paced gameplay.
i personally like more fps where you reload and aim down the sight than games like doom, but i like doom more than brutal doom anyway for... reasons, but let's imagine that im defending brutal doom, doom it's a game where you can't reload or aim down sight or stuff, so it's simple and fast, brutal doom instead let you aim down the sight and reload, that makes things more slower: but here are the PROS of being slower: more immersion and atmosphere, and more focus, longer leves, and stuff... but there is a way to make it a lot fast, that is: be good... im not too good so i can't play too fast, but if you have the skill you can go very fast in brutal doom... FOR ME brutal doom pace is not a problem, i actually am a lot faster in brutal doom than in doom because im more used to that gameplay, in doom i take 20-30 minutes every level because i like more exploring than actually shooting, i think the shooting parts that are genuinely really satisfying and well made are a few, it is a level and game design thing... but for people that are very good at doom and play fast then brutal doom is a problem? maybe, you said a thing that is correct, reloading and stuff go AGAINST fast paced gameplay, so what does it mean? that if you are fast it's a lot more satisfying because you are good at the game, if you want mandlessly relax i can understand, but being fast in a game that go against being fast has a lot of satisfaction to it, a lot more than in a game suppose to be fast, that is basic psychology i think no?
then brutal doom basically let's you experience doom in a modern way, that is an interesting experiment and there is nothing wrong about that, but first of all let's make something clear: if there is a problem in liking brutal doom, it can be in liking it MORE than standard doom, that is an argument... but if liking it in general it's a problem, then you are just crying with no real meaning to your argument... i get you, but i think brutal doom is good in theory and i personally like it more than standard doom in theory... in THEORY, in practice i gotta say that i like doom standard better, brutal doom get's annoying after a while, and the atmosphere and style is not too comfortable, i like doom more, but i think brutal doom is good... but im a doom enjoyer, not an expert or a fanboy, so im speaking as an enjoyer... you do you...
