Master Levels for Doom II, It disappeared from the Steam library.
Master Levels for Doom II "STANDALONE" It disappeared from the Steam library. I want my Bethesda game back.

I wasn't the only one who had the game mistakenly removed from the library.

There are several people complaining that the game has disappeared from the library and it's as if we never had the game. If this happens on Steam, how can we trust the store and continue buying digital games?
Just return our game. I'm a collector of Doom games, I've always made a point of having them all. Now, games disappearing from our library like that out of nowhere can't happen.

...
It's literally part of this re-release with all the levels in order, how is this an issue?
Seamus 18 SEP 2024 a las 5:53 p. m.
It was merged into the doom 2 download two years ago.

Still got mine

I'll report back if I see mine disappear, I guess.

I don't think it's a big deal since the Master Levels were included in the DOOM II download, but titles straight-up disappearing from your personal library is always a worry.

Have you read post #13 from the first thread?

https://steamdb.info/sub/420/history/?changeid=15690621

I don't think losing +1 game is worth enough, but let's not be sad that Master Levels is already included in Doom 2 rather than spending a bunch of money for the old bundle right?
Space Detective 18 SEP 2024 a las 8:52 p. m.
Oh, prompted by blunus I actually looked into the linked threads.
So this isn't a new development? This is you complaining about the thing from two years ago?

Well, that changes my take then. Get over it; you still have the Master Levels through the DOOM II listing, so you lost nothing other than a separate entry for them on your Steam library, which is hardly worth giving a crap about in this case.

It does not justify removing the old game from the Steam library of those who purchased it.

When this becomes common, your digital games disappearing from the library without warning or anything, I want to see if you will support this type of practice. This is not normal, if you support this today, you will regret it in the future.

My friend still has his too, but mine is gone.

It disappeared for some accounts and not others, very strange.

The thing is in just about any other circumstance, I would agree with you.
Here, though, all they basically did was declutter your Steam library. You lost literally nothing, as Master Level's original DOS release could still all be found in DOOM II's files, and IIRC it didn't even track playtime.

Unless you just really, really wanted Master Levels; the glorified DLC to be a separate game in your library, there's nothing to mourn or really to complain about here.
EckyThump 19 SEP 2024 a las 2:16 a. m.
But it only got removed from a list, right? The way you're saying it, the emphasis on removing a purchase, you're saying it like they silently revoked the whole license, Sony-style. No one who owned the Master Levels has actually lost access to them, they just now (like most others since August 2022) launch them through Doom II's library entry, rather than a standalone library entry.

https://certb-site.bethesda.net/en/article/58GKjmwGkwgl2DRImhHFFC/id-software-steam-store-consolidation

Starting August 10, we will begin rolling out changes to our Steam Store listings for select id Software games. In short, we are consolidating each game under one major title and/or changing the title for a simpler shopping experience.

DOOM II will include Final DOOM and Master Levels as one install package. Each can be launched separately as follows:

DOOM II
DOOM II (Enhanced)
Master Levels for DOOM II
Final DOOM

I guess I'm just not seeing what anyone has actually lost due to this consolidation.

If I want to be charitable, I guess it's a matter of principle? Not wanting anything to be removed from your account, regardless of the circumstances.
Which, if that's the case, I hope they also argue for all the betas to games that got permanently removed when the beta periods ended to be re-added to your account, for just one example. Which L4D2 owner doesn't want the pre-order exclusive two level demo of Left 4 Dead 2 (that you also couldn't play past a couple weeks IIRC) to be permanently in their library?

I still have mine in my library also.
Lord Voxtron 19 SEP 2024 a las 10:23 a. m.
The Master Levels are included both in this collection "Doom + Doom II" and the now delisted previous standalone Doom II. And yes, we actually didn't lose anything with that. Nevertheless, since some people still have the standalone Master Levels, I contacted the Steam support on the issue and I'm still waiting their response.

I wonder if this is a regional thing due to consumer protection laws in certain countries. I still have mine. But yeah this news is 2 years old, nothing new.

I actually only noticed I don't have the standalone Master Levels anymore today, and don't know when it was removed from my library, but I think last year it was still there.
