The new tracks are really impressive while retaining the spirit of the originals.

Why are you asking about Mick Gordon...you should be asking about the Andrew Hulshult songs in this version.

Classic all the way. The remix soundtrack is awesome and great to listen to at the gym. But I think it sounds over the top and it doesn't jam well with the retro pixelated visuals of Doom.
For gameplay, I prefer the original.

They fit their own games, I think. Mick Gordon's soundtrack is a genius godlike revolution in audio production, but I don't think I would use it in classic doom, even with mods.

If I'm feeling really vanilla, there's nothing wrong with the original midi: they are also neat tributes to metal. My biggest issue is that those blues-y chord progressions are bit too overused, but that's not a huge deal.

However, If I'm playing modded classic Doom like Project Brutality, the Andrew Hulshult remixes are insanely good. The new Doom II tracks are especially awesome modern interpretations, like I'm shocked how well Between Levels got remixed, since IMO the original track was kinda goofy.

OPL

Jokes aside I prefer when it sounds more "videogamey" if you understand.

I think the music made for classic Doom and Unreal is the best video game music ever made.

Many Doom themes are more ambience or horror focused than metal when you think about it.

Something about the AdLib/OPL ost makes me feel it's moodier https://youtu.be/e3MFUA5dXSA?si=GEC1Ow3CuqdyWmmW
