That what happen when someone don't read well.
Let's check fictional characters most close to human defects, to us player can identify with that fiction character.
Videogames have a problem. The most common is the one army man hero we have in almost every videogame. We start on that every character in videogames is a god, even the ones based on real events (attention to the word based). Why send an entire army on D-Day when you only need one man? It would be much cheaper for the USA and less trouble, don't you think? And of course, that soldier would be a god, nobody can kill him.
In Doom guy, the game tells me I must survive, and that’s more fitting to identify us, the player, with the protagonist.
In Doom Slayer, he’s a lame copy of Jesus Christ. There’s a lot of difference here
Also he's still human, the speed is just for gameplay purpose.
In 2016/Eternal he's explicitly an avatar of power.
When you think about it Mario is a very powerful human being in term of athletics and power.
If we're going to add gameplay mechanics to the lore, when for obvious reasons it's invalid, you're going to have a problem even starting the Doom 2016 lore. The UAC's whole economic reason in the new Doom is Earth's energy crisis.
Because there's one infinite source that could solve all the problems from the beginning without needing all those expensive labs for energy extraction: the fuel used in the chainsaw in Doom '90s...
Think about it that chainsaw, for some magical and incredible reason, doesn't need refueling at all. It runs forever without recharging, thanks to some unknown magical fuel. All the UAC would need to do is examine the chainsaw fuel, replicate it, and problem solved. No need for Doom 2016 or Doom Eternal.
So, officially, based on gameplay lore, Doom 2016 couldn't even happen in the first place
Or we could agree that gameplay mechanics are invalid when it comes to lore
You can skip the story I beleive. Just hold down a key to skip.
And for the story..it's minimal at best.
