Dark phantasy medieval setting seems perfect for those.
DooM?
Eh, it will probably be a cool game, but I associate DooM with abandoned space stations crawling with zombies and daemons and hellish places.
Granted, DooM II took the fight back to Earth, hence "Hell on Earth" subtitle, and the series is evolving, it just seems a odd evolution, when Eternal was doing new things ("Heaven vs Hell" kinda thing).
And Dark Ages feels like "DooM: Hexen Edition", from the looks of it.
I'm holding out hope for a new Quake game, although I'd also settle for more official/quality expansions for Quake and Quake 2.
Q1 and QII getting remasters is nice, and there's Quake Champions out there, and the still supported (in a MP sense) Quake Live, but yeah, we probably won't see any new "AAA" Quake title with a focus on SP mode.
A new DooM with a Quake-ish flavour, yes, but not Quake itself.
Also Doom Eternal is an incredible game and the best AAA game to come out in 10 years and counting.
