Well, it looks nice, but, in all honesty, I kind of hate the direction of the new Doom Trilogy, story wise, as I find this Maykr and other stuff kind of the antithesis of what initially drew me to the Doom franchise in the first place, namely, I see Satan and his minions, I do pest control for The Man Upstairs, I remove Satan and his minions from existence, wash, rinse, repeat, and ditto for the vast majority of Doom Total Conversion Video Games, Doom . WADs, and Doom Mega .WADs. I LIKE clearly defined good and evil and it is also, not just the intellectually dishonest, disreputable, and lazy, but just plain deceitful, lying, and evil, actions of evildoers when people blur those lines or say stupid things, and ditto in real life, like good and evil are subjective, good and evil do not exist, good and evil are antiquated concepts that are a hindrance to the true progression of humankind, etc., as this is simply not how things actually work on a cosmic scale, and people that try to make it happen that way, well, they end up like the humans in Doom video games, ironically enough. This does not mean that I do not enjoy the newer Doom video games, as I honestly like what Doom III brought to the table when it came to the more personal touch, as it was kind of like Doom was trying to be like the System Shock, Bio-Shock, Dead Space, Brothers in Arms, or Half-Life franchises whenever it came to having dialogue that unfolds the game world. Whenever Doom III did that in that video game, then that actually had meaning and purpose. However, I just plain hate it when the story lines of the newer Doom video games spits on the in-game world that was already there in the older Doom video games, like Doom III and the Classic Doom Trilogy, and other Mega .WADs and Total Conversion video games. Now, as for Doom III, I like hearing Rob Paulsen and Jim Cummings, of all people, team up with people that voiced all sorts of video games, Western cartoons/Western anime, and Eastern cartoons/Eastern anime, like Steve Blum, Kari Wahlgren, Crispin Freeman, etc., for that game was nice, as the first two people that I had mentioned, well, they were people that usually did lighter fare, and they really worked hard in this game when they branched out of their comfort zones for Doom III, and its expansions. Moreover, you also really felt like, in Doom III, that you also felt like this is a world that really had experienced a massive disaster, thanks to some people in the UAC that cared more for profits than human lives and common sense, you know, like the people that make things like CERN in real life, as well as the politicians of the left, right, middle, and fringe, as well as political activists, religious extremists, racists of ALL skin, hair, and eye colors, and the alphabet soup groups of fruits, nuts, and flakes tend to also act as well for furthering all of their own various agendas, so, in all honesty, the franchise should have just built upon what Doom III started, instead of giving into the political activists and being pseudo-intellectual edge lords/ladies with their more predictable than the plot to porn mentalities in their lives. Basically, the newer Doom video games need reboots, and rewrites, and to also take lessons from Doom III, as well as also be reminded of the classic Doom titles, as that is where it all began for this franchise.

Honestly speaking, I was disappoint that it's not a Quake SP reboot in the style of the OG Quake, or even a Hexen reboot.

Dark phantasy medieval setting seems perfect for those.

DooM?

Eh, it will probably be a cool game, but I associate DooM with abandoned space stations crawling with zombies and daemons and hellish places.

Granted, DooM II took the fight back to Earth, hence "Hell on Earth" subtitle, and the series is evolving, it just seems a odd evolution, when Eternal was doing new things ("Heaven vs Hell" kinda thing).

And Dark Ages feels like "DooM: Hexen Edition", from the looks of it.

I think this doom is not trying to be an evolution or the best doom, it's just trying to be different... I think that doom eternal was too definitive, so the next doom game can't be an evolution, something ahead... I think it's just trying to be another thing... To be creative

If the gameplay is greatly improved and its not just walk through narrow corridors to pick up a floating key and platform to the next arena fight like in Eternal I might consider it, but the DLC expansions for Eternal really killed any interest I had in the modern Doom games.

I'm holding out hope for a new Quake game, although I'd also settle for more official/quality expansions for Quake and Quake 2.

The new Doom titles are great games, but I find it hard to accept them as part of Doom; mainly because there's not going to be loads of community created stuff for these games ever again like Doom 1 and 2. I wish Bathesda could sort of make an amazing level editor for their new Doom titles, one that really lets fans make cool stuff. Until we get that I'm not really excited though I will say I enjoy the campaign of Doom reboot a lot.

I’m in the distinct minority of gamers that did not enjoy Doom 2016 nor Doom Eternal, but I suspect many gamers on this particular Steam forum would agree. It’s a shame, because I really, really wanted to like them, so much so that I forced myself to finish 2016 and then bought Eternal hoping it would grab me, but it never did and I gave up on both. My gaming tastes are permanently stuck in the 1990s, having not enjoyed any single player shooter made after Half-Life 2, which has now been 20 years ago (I feel old). So, I’m not holding out much hope for a new game based on the Doom 2016 universe, which to me is not really Doom.

Q1 and QII getting remasters is nice, and there's Quake Champions out there, and the still supported (in a MP sense) Quake Live, but yeah, we probably won't see any new "AAA" Quake title with a focus on SP mode.

A new DooM with a Quake-ish flavour, yes, but not Quake itself.
Yup, even when it is literally the Heretic Reboot.
Also Doom Eternal is an incredible game and the best AAA game to come out in 10 years and counting.
