brutal doom dehack
I found brutal doom dehack on the mod list. It works but is this really brutal doom? Playing this on the steam deck, and it does work.

It works fine as it was built within vanilla limitations & is basically otherwise “Brutal Doom at Home”

And somehow is fundamentally better because it still kept the balance of the game.

doesn't work properly when I tried the blood and gore was the same ?

It's "Brutal Doom Lite" but it works with the game and doesn't require any 3rd party source ports.

One issue is that there's just not enough ammo since the pistol was replaced with assault rifle and the chaingun eats ammo.

Then again, I never played Brutal Doom in a serious way (always with all weapons unlocked and easy difficulty).

it runs, it shows different weapons, but the whole point of brutal doom was the blood n gore extras which don't exist in whatever this dehack thing is?

DeHackEd is an editor that allows modification to Doom's executable, allowing you to change several values like Damage, Entity states, and Text Strings. Still very widely used for modding anything outside of GZDoom, alongside anything made based off of DeHackEd.

With that being said, this is NOT Brutal Doom. The real Brutal Doom was made for the GZDoom sourceport with the amount of changes and mechanics it adds. Given the state of the mod manager at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if this was just a cheap knock off dumped onto there without Sgt. Mk. IV's permission.

It's technically called boiled doom if it's the version I usually see.

I doubt mark has a problem with it. And if he does? Oh well.

Sgt. Mk. IV can :fraud: himself sideways.

It's best to ignore him and all of his works entirely but if you absolutely have to, taking his stuff without his permission is always the morally correct and preferred way compared to asking him and thus interacting with that piece of :spintires_mud:

Pretty much.

I never cared for that whole “brutal” interpretation of Doom… although the devs of the sequels seemed to have fallen in love with it. To me, Brutal Doom is for players that couldn’t beat original Doom without cheat codes when they were kids.

False: Glory Kills were planned way before Brutal Doom (there are drafts of GKs in the now cancelled Doom 4).

This makes no sense whatsoever.
