Need some suggestions.

Can somebody recommend me some level packs?

I'm looking for something that is visually appealing, has interesting encounters without being overly difficult.

I don't like slaughter maps so don't bother with those please.

Any recommendations?

Winter's Fury got an anniversary update a bit ago, it's one of the finest wads i've played. Alien Vendetta is old but still one of the best. Ancient Aliens is great, Hell Revealed, Eviternity 1&2, Elementalism, Bloom is the coolest mix of Blood and Doom, Refracted Reality. I could go on but thats enough for now

A second vote to "Scythe" here. It's pretty unique in that all the maps are small, compacted, but yet filled with monsters and doors. Very, very fun and intense!

There's also "Revolution!" (included in this version) with an unique story of humanity slaving the demons as workers... And how all eventually goes awry. There are a bunch of Earth-based levels and are miles better than the ones from Doom II (aesthetically speaking).

For a great mix of visuals and fun encounters, disregard all recommendations and play:

• Eviternity 1 and 2 - they use OTEX, a library of new textures, and change the level theme every 5 maps. They have new enemies too!
  
• Ancient Aliens - a ton of new textures and a unique visual style, with an interesting theme around aliens
  
• Going Down - no new textures, but the wad gimmick (going down on an elevator) is incredibly fun as you progress the wad

I recommend playing them on Hurt Me Plenty for a more fun playthrough without much stress.
I also recommend playing with Pistol Starter every map, for more interesting encounters, forcing you to only have weapons the map intended you to have.
