The port is very clearly not for old school pc doomers. More of a console thing that they gave you for free if you owned a prior copy.
The "Target" is not in direct line of sight. The reason why you use rockets is for the splash damage.
Way too many people have been asking for unreasonable requests.
The keyboard part is stupid. The Quake Remasters have it. It should be included. Contact Nightdive Studios and put in a request. It needs to be put back.
However,
Classic Doom did not have mouse look. You have the original wads for it here:
C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Ultimate Doom\base
Install your mouse look Doom source port of choice, plug in the wad that you want and that the game already has that you're freaking out about and go nuts.
If you want this new release to have mouse look then go find John Romero and John Carmack on Twitter / X and bother them for it. They're the reason that didn't happen 31 years ago. I'm sure you'll be met kindly with your request (lol).
Official Boom support, official MBF21 support, a whole new format (ID24) for wads with extra features (new weapons, possibility of custom pickups, new configuration lumps in json, etc.) a whole new episode (Legacy of the Rust) making use of some of the new features included with new monsters, a wad browser with community uploads, an "id vault" with new never ever released content with sketches and pieces of history from the original development of Doom....
And I'm sure I'm forgetting things.
