Source Ports Still The Best Way To Go?
Even with this new Nightdive/Kex version, do you guys think that Doom on Zandronum and GZDoom is the best way to play Classic Doom?

Definitely

Yes it is, but this is a convenient little package for people to easily pick up and play. Source Ports are obviously gunna be much better, with more features, but this is fine. Zandronum is deffo the way to go for MP. Not a single Slaughter Map in site here!

Kex engine it's a powerful port, so maaaybe for the stuff that already are there, i'll jump from DSDA and Kex engine.

This will remplace the MP ports for me because it's more easy to set up a co-op server.

For mods games and stuff. Still GZDoom

I don't see myself using this for anything other than Legacy of Rust.
Source ports are still probably the best way to go simply because they've had more time in the oven. GZDoom is built on top of over 20 years of work.

GZDoom and Zandronum change a number of gameplay mechanics, e.g. invisibility makes monsters not see you when idle in GZDoom, which wasn't the case in the original game, so for a "best" way for the original Doom games I'd suggest something like DSDA-Doom or "Woof!" for a more vanilla-esque experience. GZDoom is still great for modding though.

I think the big benefit of this port is the ease of access, if you want to play Doom with some less technically-inclined friends, you can just boot this up and play with them instead of spending an hour explaining how a source port works and that "no Zandronum won't install a virus dude please trust me on this". Plus, crossplay!

My problem with Zadromium is somebody need to be tech savy to open the internet ports and make it compatible with the others guys playing.

Or you can just use Doomseeker.

Same.

This is exactly why I've never managed to get anyone new into classic Doom. Nobody wants to spend an hour on a weekend downloading things, and troubleshooting when tons of newer shinier games work out of the box.

I am tech savvy and the port thing never worked.

DSDA, baby. Best source port around.

Yeah definitely, but I think provided bethesda irons out some issues in this version it could be a good way to play the game and level pack wads. Mainly I think the mod browser is below average and there's things like not being able to turn the camera with keyboard, or enemies falling off ledges when they're not supposed to, that's holding this package back.

Yes. GZDoom is still the best way to play Doom.

Yup, though this is a much better alternative than the previous releases. I'd say it doesn't really compete with GZDoom since the goals are very different - this is more in the vein of something like Crispy or DSDA where it focuses on being able to maintain gameplay/demo accuracy on top of other improvements.
EDIT: Reworded a bit
