PCEM run dos on emulated hardware for better than Dosbox experience.

Pcem is great but I recommend 86box if you're going to go down the rabbit hole of hardware emulation since pcem is effectively abandoned since the original creator quit, 86box forked from pcem years ago and is still being updated.
Both are far better than dosbox for authenticity.

I'd been using 1.7 since never even went back as win98se runs great in it with voodoo 3300 it's like having my old machine back even with the fast shutdown glitch back in the day.

Consider that the OG xbox Developer machines were a PC like such that could be emulated here.

So far 86box is awesome literally a build of an old machine I had with my Voodoo3 3000 excluding the Tv-out of course played Kingpin on rear a projection giant tv back in the day.

Was born in December 1993 and knew DOS only from Win95/98. It was cool to discover the DOSBox at the end of the 2000s. That was a nice feeling to boot any old DOS game through this way.

Computers didn't really become big until about windows 98.

Dos at uni ?

I thought they used variants of Unix for Multi User logins etc at and mainframe access ?, Grandfather was a manager for Hoover in the 70s and 80s, he showed me a terminal and where it connected too, It was literally another building several floors of glass walled boxs and racks and a some people in white jumpsuits with hair nets and anti static cotton gloves.

Universities would rather use Unix terminals than DOS. DOS was a single-user OS that was common with home PCs, and even the rich kids wouldn't have direct access to a Unix machine at home.
