Yup. Someone else just told me that too. Basically means I won't be playing it. Which makes me sad. I finally managed to full size the screen like the original had and now I have a giant face along with massive hud text blocking a chunk of my screen.
Oh well. Maybe they'll patch it. The music is really good, though. x_x
Back in the 90's I swore by keyboard only. It's been 30 years of shooting stuff in video games for me, though. I just don't see me being able to play an FPS game that doesn't let me actually aim at the enemies.
Doom had no up or down and you don't need it; the game aims up or down automatically. Doom is really a 2.5 game anyways.
not playing because of old software? Please. What do you want next, 3D models?
yes, there is autoaim to hit enemies on different floors. but again, the way it is.
you can be happy that the movement is not on the mouse as it used to be by default. tryy that and let us know how you like that? ;)
As the saying goes: "Don't quote the deep magics to me for I was there when they were written."
I've been playing Doom since I got my hands on a shareware copy back in, what? 1992, I think? The lack of vertical aiming and autoaim was a limitation of the time. It's been, quite literally, hard coded out of this source port.
As I believe I said before, I've been shooting baddies in FPS games for over 30 years now. My brain wants to aim at the enemies. Not the horizon below where they're standing. This one option that has no reason not being OPTIONAL basically makes the game unplayable for me and it's wild that I have to explain that at all to anyone.
This is an excellent source port and I can't really play it because of something that should be a checkbox in the options menu. I mean, I know that empathy is a lost art these days but, come on? Wouldn't that piss you off too?
Thanks, I hate it. I hated auto aim in the 90's and I hate it now. There's no reason for this to not be, at the very least, a command line argument. -_-
No having mlook option in a modern source port makes my nuts hurt.
Mouselook was an FPS revolution, and frankly some sections of the game are a PITA without it. Do-able, but needlessly frustrating. Calm down and let a player play.
