Really? What a ridiculous port...
GZDoom and Zandronum already have 4K support and up to 500FPS.

Is this a bad joke or something?

This features crossplay & easy to setup multiplayer. As well as an easy to use extensive sound & music option. That's all I ever really wanted. Do I wish I could play Reelism 2 in co-op on this? Yes, but there's plenty other things I can now play without having to convince a group of people to server browse.

Yeah, i mean the feature of using the switch through classic doom music and the IDKFA remake is awesome. But i can do that on ZDL just launch the PK3 on it, and there you go.

I don't know if i can on this new version load more them one "PK3" like ZDL, if i can will be great.

Because i prefer the Brutal Doom, Brutal Doom Platinum and Project Brutality instead of the classic gameplay. Prefer because of the frenetic and modern gameplay which result on Doom 2016.

Do you know if is possible to launch more than one single mod? Thx.

GZDoom is notorious for not being well optimized, this has become something of a joke in the community. Also, GZDoom isn't exactly the source port you're going to use if you want the original experience, since it fixes bugs (which is a good thing), but unfortunately when fixing bugs some things become unbalanced.

That's not to say that GZDoom is bad, on the contrary, it's an extremely complex port that allows for incredible mods and games made from scratch, and we all like that.

It turns out that GZDoom is not the "answer" to everything. There are people who like Crispy Doom, for example, simply because it's the closest experience they can get to the "real" game without having to emulate DOS. Others use DSDA because it has useful speedrun tools. Others just install PRBoom+ because they want the vanilla game but with quality of life improvements in addition to Boom support, and so on.

This new port is a good solution for those who use consoles and can't install software freely on their own hardware because Sony and Nintendo don't allow it. And also for those who are on PC and want something that comes with multiplayer and built-in megawads browsing.

Thx for the comment at least a rational person.

Do you know if i can load this new version with brutal doom?

And plus that, load more than one mod like the PK3 on ZDL launcher?

I prefer the GZDoom engine with brutal doom itself, because is more frenetic and has a modern gameplay, which result in Doom 2016...

I play three mods here: Brutal Doom, Brutal Doom Platinum and Project Brutality.

Thx in advance.

I noticed someone else saying they had gotten the new episode working on source ports, and also working in brutal doom

Not tried it myself yet, but I don't mind this kex engine port so far, its ALOT better then that trash unity port.. especially when there's people out there on console but also PC who just don't use things like gzdoom.. I much rather they be playing this version then that unity port

I'm hoping people will be able to extract the new assets from the new episode (enemies, weapons, level props) and use them for their own wads in the future

Brutal Doom doesn't work with the new release. It was designed for GZDoom.

The only thing I didn't like is the 60 fps cap; the mouse movement feels laggy, and the vsync cannot be disabled. Even when you set it to Off and change the video mode to fullscreen in the options, it remains On

Exactly, so by your comment is a lot easier to just get the WAD of the new single player episode and put on the ZDL launcher, thx for the answer.
Lord Bullingdon Aug 9, 2024 @ 9:11am
Hey man, any time the original Doom games gets some love and attention, it's a good thing. And the new episode is amazing. But, I'll NEVER stop using DSDA. Good news is you can use all these wads in your port of choice. This current port feels a bit weird to me. Movement feels floaty and delayed but I'm not complaining because I'm a HUGE classic Doom fan and I think it's awesome they did this. I'm really hoping that it ushers in a new Doom renaissance.

I think is what the other user commented above:

i think the guys behind the GZ Doom will extract the assets and everything else and make compatible with the gzdoom and brutal doom itself.

And like a said above it's more easy to just get the wad and put on the ZDL launcher, for now.

You're funny. GZDoom runs like ass.
It looks ugly by default too.

Well, you are already set then.

Hurray.

You get used to it, i mean the gameplay of the Brutal Doom itself.

GZDoom isn't demo compatible in the first place.
There, your point has been refuted.

There's nothing wrong with just using GZDoom, the important thing is to have fun, and Doom is a game that has been entertaining people for 30 years. But before you guys start creating threads talking about how a port is unnecessary because of GZDoom, at least make sure you have a minimum of information on the subject.
Comprehend basic words, I didn't claim it was demo compatible, I said it could emulate vanilla

This, why gzdoom have texture filtering enabled by default?

I think what they meant was more that you can't run brutal doom in the new kex engine port

To play Legacy of Rust through other source ports you need the files "id1" "id1-res" and "id1-weap"

Edit: oh and btw, when I tried myhouse.wad on this new port (through the mod browser), it instantly crashed the game lol
