PS1 Add-on when?
Now that both games are merged into one purchase, I wonder if a mod of the Midway/Playstation version could be added officially at some point.
It's such a unique version and it would compliment the Doom 64 remaster as well.

You probably already know this but there is an unofficial one on moddb and it is very awesome. It uses GZDoom for the base.

PS1 version leaned heavily into colored sector lighting. Does this port include colored lighting? If so, I could see it being done. I doubt id read the forums here though. Not sure how you'd get in touch with them.
I own the Psx port of Doom and Final Doom, I would recommend "PsyDoom" for an original emulation of the PSX versions. as uses the ISO, bin and cue files from the PSX game it's self . It's basically playing the PSX games on PC

Enjoy :steamhappy:

The colored lighting is based on rendering and a limit removing port to run the original Iwads on. the steam release of Doom+Doom2 achieves this as it includes the Sigil release (Had to remove limitation in order to create it's levels (thank you John for Sigil :D). Regarding rendering inside the port, there are a variety of ways to render in-game, software through D3D and vulken... That solves the problem of Open GL lighting that the PSX version utilizes.

Yeah, DOOM PSX was probably the best console port for a decade and its unique take on the games should be remembered in a more official way like Quake 2 64 was in the remaster

In my opinion, PSX Doom and FInal Doom ports were indeed the best console ports of Doom ever made, IMO they still are. IMO the only better variations of Doom are the originals.

Id love to see the obscure and playstation exclusive maps becoming available in this at some point. Some of these maps don't deserve to be lost in obscurity.

The best way to play PSX Doom is by using PsyDoom. It's the most accurate way to play PSX Doom games, and you won't regret it

Given the fact they released Doom 64 using Kex engine and it also had some unique features to that version.
So i don't think it has anything to do with technical limitations but maybe with license issues.

What i liked psx over the pc version even back in the day is the soundtrack, while the PC version made feel like i was unstoppable. The PSX soundtrack made feel like i was truly in a doomed situation

I didnt create Psydoom -
Rather I worked out how to use it as an alternative to the original dosbox.exe in this Steam game.

You could just try Psydoom off Steam using its own Launcher, but this way you can play the remastered Steam game and psydoom as well by just using the steam launch options.
It was an idea I had and it works.
