Ultimate Doom Delisted and Removed?
Delisting the old version of Ultimate Doom from purchase on the store is one thing, but removing it from my library entirely is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

would be crazy if they would explain exactly what to do in their announcement... they never would hide that in there, right!?

RTFM for ♥♥♥♥ sake... how lazy can people get these days? i really wonder how some people make it through a day without someone telling them to "breathe in, breathe out...".

one thing is for sure... out future is definitely DOOMed with those.
People do not like their libraries tampered with.

People also prefer separate games. If they wanna merge them all into one, at least leave the originals available for the original owners. Nothing strange here.

I'd rather this was paid and separate than a "free" replacement.

You can launch the DOS versions from DOOM + DOOM II. You can also downgrade to the 2019 port from the betas tab.

Friendly reminder that Steam is a rental service.

the ultimate doom is just replaced with this new enhanced port. but you can *still* launch the original DOS versions like always. nothing is really being taken away here, other than the name being changed
this game replaced it

You're missing my point. Instead of adding Doom + Doom II, they've replaced Ultimate Doom in my library. Why should I trust that any of the original 93 Doom files haven't been altered in this new version, or won't be altered in the future? Purchased games should **never** be removed from ones library, I don't care how much better the updated remaster is.

The only thing replaced here are the Unity version of Doom 1 which for preservation purposes can be accesed from beta branch.

because steamdb would tell you if the OG files were altered especially when the beta tab literally lets you downgrade to untouched version, Holy hell you conspiracy theorists get wilder.

I honestly believe its just tism and the library tilted being altered is just triggering 90% of the people's OCD ism section thats it.

Bethesda strikes again.

The original files can still be accessed. You can downgrade back to the previous version whenever you want. You lost NOTHING. Even the DOS version is still available to you ffs.

They fusioned it all together in this version, I dont see the problem, no matter if its this version or another one, you still own a license, and they can delete it from your account if they want, same if steam dies.

Plus as others already said, you can access them from beta branch

WADs used for DOSBox are original. I've calculated hashes for doom, doom2, tnt and plutonia WADs, and they are the same as hashes provided by Doom Wiki.
You can test it youself. In Terminal/Powershell:
Get-FileHash .\doom.wad -Algorithm SHA1

Unity rerelease is also available. Go to Properties -> Betas and select "previous-re-release" branch.

No, it is a I bought and paid for what I got and if people do not like it, then they will be rendered out of service, and inside of prisons, type of service.

Which is why GOG is better.

You can downgrade to the previous version in the beta channel so it hasn't been delisted or removed. It's been updated. You can think of that as them replacing it if you want, but it's not the same thing as putting up an entirely new listing and then deleting previously available versions (like what happened with Sega charing for Sonic Origins while removing the previously available Sonic roms from the Sega Mega Drive Collection.)

It's a lot more nuanced then that. Steam is selling perpetual licences to products. In US it's grey area, but in EU and Australia these are considered goods.
Valve got in trouble with ACCC for not providing refunds for games, and after losing in court spectacularly was forced to implement this feature.
