Weapon wheel would be awesome
There is no way to convenient map buttons on controller to get all weapons in one tap instead of scrolling that. I know there is weapon wheel mods for brutal doom, anyone knows if there is same for regular doom?

But Doom doesnt have heights so it makes controllers convenient. I wouldnt play something like Quake on controllers of course

DOOM's never been an exception -- DOOM64 wasn't worth playing on the N64 controller, either.
I understand that it's less egregious than trying to utilize a controller for something with 'freelook', but it's far from optimal and still handicaps you.

As for a weapons wheel: as long as it didn't add a mechanic like freeze/slow time to the game, it couldn't be any worse than the janky scroll-selection in there, now.

Dont compare bad outdated N64 controller with modern ones lol. BTW even on official android Doom ports there is weapon wheel that activates by tapping on Doom Guy's face

*facepalm* No, just...no

I understand playing some games on your phone. Classic JRPGs are perfect for this. But Doom? Seriously?

as someone who has played doom on controller its actually a pretty decent way to play thanks to the lack of vertical aim also i would like add that a controller does allow you to conveintlly swap to a certain weapon with the D pad, pretty sure it went like up= chaingun, down= rocket launcher, left= ssg or shotgun and right= plasma gun or at least thats how it worked for a ps4 controller when i played doom on the ps4.

I saw that on default layout. However doom has more than 4 weapons thats the problem

People (including myself) use to play with a joystick and a gamepad that looked like the SNES one. In fact they made joysticks/controllers just for Doom. That is a fact. You're not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ handicapped by using a controller for a game like Doom. Not in the slightest. If you don't suck with controllers or joysticks it's very easy to play Doom and many other shooters of the 90s. I'm old enough to know these things because I was playing those games back then. Now, if we're talking modern shooters that are MP based. Then yeah, mouse is far superior. Hell, even Doom Eternal is better with M/kb. Doom is a primitive shooter that was played with keyboard only controls lmao. Mouse was mainly used to strafe or move back and forward. Which is why we had joysticks/controllers for these games. Some people need a history in PC gaming fr.
