Xbox one controller won’t work past press start screen

Does anyone know how to get Xbox one controllers to work with this game? I can use the a button to skip through the opening logos but as soon I get to the menu I can no longer use the controller even tho controller connected steam ui shows up in the bottom corner. Any help would be appreciated

Any sort of rudimentary control that is easily adoptable is practical.
Anything short of mouse/kb as a control scheme for DOOM isn't optimal.

Are you playing the dos versions? Works fine for me when I choose the first option when launching. And don’t listen to the kb/m snobs, although I get where they’re coming from. I play Doom with an Xbox controller and am having a blast.

Weird enough it recognizes the controller on the dos version but it won’t pick up on the regular version. I have the configuration settings enabled on big picture mode should I try disabling them?

For sure! Definitely don't want any secondary controller settings active interfering with things.

Well I tried messing around with the controller settings and I still can’t get it to recognize the controller. I’m at a loss here tbh it says the game should be controller compatible.

So weird. I’m also wireless. I use the xbox core wireless with 2.4/5GhHz wireless adapter. Are you using the adapter or are you connecting with Bluetooth? If you’re using the adapter and are sure no other controller configuration software or settings are active and interfering, I really don’t know know what else the problem could be :(

Figured it out out! For anyone wondering on the game screen in your library click on the controller icon on the right and change the controller layout from controller to the keyboard template
