HELP!! doom keeps crashing

I know this might sound like my pc is made of cardboard but i start doom and i get a doom setup then the doom start screen showsup and nothing happens like it crash or something and there is no sound. Im On on a windows 8.1 and i uninstalled and installed the game 3 times. Please help i don't want to refund this game.

You should use run as a Windows xp or more in propeties, hope it can help you.

do you have a source port for the game? if not then thats why because the game doesnt run on modern computers. i suggest you get the source port, gzdoom, thats what i use and its easy to install.

This guide will show you how to get gzdoom or zandronum. It also tells you how to get brutal doom and project brutality but you can ignore those steps if you dont want those mods.

Step 1: Download a source port such as GZDoom
Step 2: take DOOM.wad from the files for this game on steam
Step 3: drop DOOM.wad into GZDoom's file
Step 4: run

i did that but my screen just went black and it said out of range
