Knee Deep's level design really stands out.
The Shores of Hell is my favorite to play through, I think mainly because I can berserk punch through just about every level. The corrupted mix of tech and hell is just awesome. But... Berserk Pack. Punching Imps is just sooooo rewarding.
Inferno has that sweet BFG9000 and all the varied environments. I love House of Pain.
Thy Flesh Consumed is just brutal the first few levels. It does a good job bridging Doom and Doom 2, even if the boss fight is just a rehash E3 with more enemies.
for that boos fight, the plasma gun makes it much easier.
A few other tips:
When you first start the level, if you have a decent amount of armor don't pick up the blue armor. You CAN come back to the central room.
Press all 4 switches in the center room. Let the stairs raise. Then, open all 4 doors but don't go through them. Go through only one of the doors and it will close behind you. That will leave the other three open so you can come back and get the armor.
Once you leave the central room, get outside and STAY outside until you know where the cyberdemon is. Then work on killing the flying skulls. Kill all the skulls BEFORE taking on the cyberdemon. If you're on the same side of the map as the cyberdemon, move to a different area and clear those skulls out. Once they're all gone then face the cyberdemon.
If the cyberdemon goes into one of the doorways don't follow or get near. Just stand behind the pillar that blocks the view of that door. He'll eventually come outside.
Final Tip: Shoot it until it dies... BUT... make sure all the hits are direct hits if you're using rockets. The cyberdemon is completely immune to explosions. It takes about 20 direct rocket hits to kill him.
Episode 3 is good (especially E3M2) but the episode is way harder than the first and has some levels that are too long.
Episode 4 is BS for most part (even tho I like E4M3) because the first two levels are brutally hard, especially E4M2 "Perfect Hatred"
