1. Drag the .pk3 and/or .wad file(s) into GZDoom. It'll load the game with the selected files, as long as two don't conflict each other. There's one problem with this solution though - it doesn't open the game through Steam, so no Steam Overlay, screenshots, and it won't track your play time.
2. In your base folder, locate a file called gzdoom-YourUsernameHere (it's a .cfg or configuration file), and locate the line that goes as follows:
"# WAD files to always load. These are loaded after the IWAD but before
# any files added with -file. Place each file on its own line, preceded
# by Path=
[Global.Autoload]"
Underneath the [Global.Autoload] line, put the path to your files. I'll put one of mine as an example
[Global.Autoload]
path=C:\WadMods\Doom1Wads\nos4dead.wad
Putting it in the .cfg file makes it so, when you boot the game, it'll automatically run those wads/mods. Same principle applies with .pk3 files as .wads, there's no difference. However, you'll need to place them in this order (I got this from Project Brutality, I didn't do this myself):
1. Maps (megawads, wads)
2. Music wads
3. Project Brutality (if used)
4. Patches
5. HUD mods (visor mods, for example)
6. Anything that doesn't fall in any of the above categories.
I don't play DOOM for a long time already, so I don't even remember the solution for it. Make a new thread or search the web.
Read what it's telling you.
You're missing the iwad in the folder.
throw doom or doom 2 in there
Thank you so much for this! I've seen a number of mods that offer no installation instructions at all. Creators should include these instructions rather then forcing the user to rely on Google.
