I've looked all over he internet and can't find anything on how to use my Xbox 360 controller with The Ultimate Doom. Dos Box is reconizing it but it won't work. can anyone help?

Most source ports have joystick functionality.

before anybody makes a rant: this game is perfectly playable with a controller.

I doubt anybody was, most older PC games can be played with a controller without really losing anything, especially games that didn't need you to use the mouse.

who knows, there's always the pcmr basement dweller that can't handle it.

Oddly enough I haven't actually seen any of those in the forum for this game.

You could try using DOSBox's build-in key remapper by pressing Ctrl+F1, but don't press it in-game or it might crash DOSBox (it's a bug that hasn't been fixed for a while). You can find out how to remap controls in DOSBox here: https://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Mapper However I wouldn't recommended as there are some controls that official DOSBox versions don't support yet and vanilla Doom isn't exactly designed for controllers. Unless you want close to vanilla experience, ZDoom (or its derivatives) or Doom Retro are your best bet for controller support. It's sort of possible with Chocolate Doom with the recent versions but it's still far from full controller support that ZDoom or Doom Retro provides.

How do I change which DOOM source-port is used for the Steam release of Ultimate DOOM? I'm fine with keyboard controls for now, but I would definitely enjoy a joystick more. (Wireless XB1 Controller)
go into you steam/common/ultimate doom folder then copy the doom.wad into the sourceport folder. Nobody mentioned chocolate doom, my favorite because it is the most true to the original version.

necroing...

...this is BS even if it works; I have spent several hours trying to fix this. My controller "stopped" working days ago and it's only this game. I used every controller(3)/pc(2)/port(8-ish?) and restarted the pc every try. Tried uninstalling...

If this works I still plan on a bad review. :repoop:
