2. If you have the default keyboard, then use space to open it, but if it sounds like oonf, then it isn't a door. Just turn around and move on :D
Don't worry, FPS have evolved a lot. :)
- Shoot button
- 1-7 buttons for weapon choosing
- Use\open button
- arrows or wasd to move
- and mouse to aim
Well, that sounded pretty stupid.
Now about the levels.
First of all, most of the Doom Levels are linear - go straight to exit killing monsters. Most of the rooms separated by doors, most of them look like tech garbage (but those may be not the doors, so look at the enviroment where it is may be logical to put a door), to open them use open button that is "space" by default. The Exit door looks like garbage painting in black spectre, so go straight to it, there's an exxit switch.
If you never played before, play on first two skills - I'm too young to die or Hey not too rough. (Easy difficulty will make sure you'll get keys and other vital items earlier and in easier way than it was in higher difficulty levels)
Also look for walkthrough on Youtube if you want to take a look "how the game works", so you will finally understand the structure of levels.
Don't worry, this game looks very contrasting to the newer and more realistic games, so it's not a shame if you got confused for the first time you're playing it.
No they aren't
