Does anyone think the last chapter (thy flesh consumed) is very hard?
I am playing Doom for the first time, and I am having a blast. Currently playing through the game on ultra violence, and for the most part, the game isn't too hard, but the last chapter has an extreme difficulty spike at the start. Like, on the first level they throw you like 2 or 3 barons, and you are currently running short of ammo.

Fun fact, up to the second level of this chapter, I didn't even know you could sprint on this game, so I was stuck for like 15 minutes trying to do the platform jumps and falling into the lava lol

Episode 4 is widely regarded as being much harder than the previous three episodes (also regarded harder than Doom II)

First two or three levels are hard but it does get easier after that.
I don't remember which one of the devs said it, but episode 4 was intended to be very hard since it was produced after Doom 2 and they wanted it to be challenging for veteran players.

Yes it is. Finding secrets is mandatory

Not very hard, it's totally unbalanced for the first 2 levels.

When you reach E4M3: Sever the Wicked the episode becomes much easier (albeit some levels).

I know right, this is like the one thing they didn't need to add.

Plutonia is hard but once you know how to handle archviles and revenants it's a bit easier (as long as you're careful about dealing with the heavies)
