How do you look up and down?
Hi there, I'm playing ultimate doom. Never really played original doom back in the day. I realise that mouse controls were not original to the game. In this version, I can mouse look left and right. But I can't seem to mouse look up and down? Is there a way to add this? Or is that just how it is?

Yes, that is why I asked. I am not sure what that guy's problem is. Thank you, though.

You can get GZDoom and add Brutal Doom

This changes the soundtrack to a much more fitting one, adds more gore and lighting effects, allows you to look up, adds Berserk mode finishers and a bunch of other improvements

That's like telling someone interested reading a book to go read a fanfic of that book instead.

Brutal Doom is the same level design as regular Doom

The big differences come in improved gameplay and added mechanics from Doom 2016

You mean Doom 2016 took ideas from Brutal Doom, and that's not at all the original gameplay of Doom you ass.
If you aim directly at an enemy higher or lower than your reticle, the game is capable of some up and down firing. Mind you, that is not the same as being able to look in those directions.

Doom 4 (the cancelled prototype) had glory kills tho.

From what I could find. This prototype was developed between 2007-2013. Brutal Doom was released in 2010 and became a hit amongst players.

To be honest, without doing some major digging about this prototype, it is impossible to call which game inspired the other.

EDIT: According to the Doom wiki. Development of that prototype completely restarted in 2011. It is quite possible that the glory kills are part of a much later version of said prototype.

EDIT 2: I don't have time to dig deeper for now. Will update once I found something of value.

I don't like how people puts Sgt MkIV and his Brutal Doom as the sole reason why Doom 2016 is a thing...

It isn't the sole reason. But, from what I could find, it is one of the big influence.

I do agree that this may have been a spark in the machine to bring back the series to the front and into the mainstream again.
