GZDoom/Steam launcher help..
When I launch Ultimate Doom through Steam I get the reverse video look to everything, its unplayable. I launch it through GZDoom, no issues at all, plays fine.

Is there a way I can point Steam to launch through GZDoom instead of DOS Box? The only way I can think of is linking a non steam game to the GZDoom launcher and rename it Doom..

Just wondering if it can be done another way.. thx!

If interested, i recently wrote a guide as well on how to do the same with Crispy Doom, which tries to be more faithfull and blownup.

Good to hear!

I tried this multiple times, but whenever I launch from Steam, it insists on re-downloading the original DosBox - overwriting my GZDoom executable. Very annoying. How do you launch it from Steam without this happening, short of playing in offline mode (which defeats the purpose)?

OK, go to your library to your Doom copy. Right click, manage, browse local files to get the folder. Open the 'base' folder. Delete the dosbox exe that is there. Copy the GZDoom exe to the base folder and rename it dosbox (all lowercase). THEN move the rest of the GZDoom files to the same folder (you dont need the exe again make sure only the first one you moved is there named dosbox). Most likely you forgot to move the rest of the files from GZDoom over as well or you didn't rename it dosbox.

Next time you launch it should boot via the GZDoom. This works for all Doom copies (Doom, Doom2, ect) and I believe Heretic and Hexen as well..

That did the trick, thank you! I didn't realize that EVERYTHING had to be in the "base" folder and nowhere else. I only had the exe in there, to replace the original dosbox file.

I didn't delete dosbox this time, I just renamed it so I can have both.

Also, this trick worked for the front end launcher (ZDL), too! I renamed the ZDL exe to dosbox and it works like a charm! Thanks again!
