Cheeers Mate!
step 1 download latest version
step 2 zdl really does not give ♥♥♥ where it is, but for simplicity sake
instal it to ultimate doom folder, just unpack it there
step 3 make folder called mods
inside that folder you need these folders if you like to keep things simple and organized
maps,gameplaymods,Ui,customtextures
why like this ,well it makes cataloging your mods very easy
step 4 go to your doom 2 or ultimate doom folder, remove dosbox, and you should have sourceport like gzdoom, there should be exe for gzdoom, blue ball or blue G
rename it to dosbox, thats optional but you should do it
next go to steam library, add non steam game
look for zdl launcher and add it. now steam overlay works with your doom mods and it counts the time for them
PHASE 2
using zdl
start zdl
trough steam or desktop shortcut no matter this is the starting phase
zdl is up now, ok click settings ,the box with IWADS text on it, under that box theres add and rem, click add, look for your iwads like doom2 and ultimate doom. find them and add them
now next to it is a box with sourceports/engines do the same thing but this time name the sourceport , cuz you need to keep up with the updates and checking ur current version is easier than remembering it, note when updating the zdl might still show the older version of the gzdoom, dont worry about it.
now click main
you should see something like this
https://gyazo.com/ce2a846290959daa8dc863559eb82efc
if it looks like it you are doing good.
keep it up lad
phase 3
MODDING!
It basicly works the same as finding ur iwads but sometimes you need to unpack the files.
sometimes you dont
Note some map packs need you to be on either doom2 or ultimate doom
just click the iwad that is requied and it should be high lighted
anyway back to modding
you should have the mod files in their own folders , say brutal doom in gameplay folder you made 1 minute ago, find it trough the add button , lower left side of the main screen.
https://gyazo.com/2535ba80ae1801e2044dd0fcd489313b
look for the files and add them, it should look like something like this
https://gyazo.com/3371130f1458bf278471036c88b328b5 mods are not always in wad form, but they sometimes are packed 2 times dont ask me
now you see the zdl button, thats where the magic happens, but first test if the set up works.
if it does conglaturations you modded doom horay
now click the zdl button then click save ini
name it to brutal doom. save it.
now you have brutal doom pre set you can load anytime
now zld is picky about one thing and its load order, bottom is important top less important.
if something doesnt work use the upndown arrows next to rem button.
The deleting exe, change names method can cause errors, if the game uses launch options default. So every important files are in the main game folder, and I have several bat files for mods (in ultimate doom folder). For Brutal doom:
Thanks for the help tho
