Multiplayer setup?

Me and my friends tried for hours last night to get on a server together. We all port forwarded and each of us tried to host a "castlestories.exe" server. We tried giving each other our ips so they could join the server too, but nothing we did ended in success. Is there anyone out there who got multiplayer to work who could help me and everyone else having these issues? Thanks in advance.

Visit www.canyouseeme.org and type in port 3000 to test your port forwarding while the server is running. Additionally, I've noticed that the game only works when it thinks it is on a local area network, so use Hamachi or another VPN Service to emulate a local area network. I believe this has to do with Unicast Packets that are sent out and do not pass routers. Good luck!

If I were to use hamachi how would the game know to use my hamachi ip?

I tryed hamachi but i still get a infinite loading screen when i try to connect to my friends server.

Have same probem (Win7 x64), could not connect even to localhost

Hi

Try using 127.0.0.1 when connecting to localhost, we found that some Windows PC have issues with "localhost" default value. We are looking it it.

Also, hamachi works really well. Just enter your hamachi given network IP in the multiplayer options,

Just to clarify, the 127.0.0.1 IP is for two people connecting over LAN?

No, no no, just to connect to your own host.
To connect over lan use your lan IP

so then the host of the server would use said IP and I would connect to his server by typing in his LAN ip?

also just to let the devs know, whenever I type in an ip, even if it is random, I just get an infinite loading screen when I click join game. I will now try redownloading the game and then will attempt to use hamachi

After reinstalling the game, I have found that I can only connect to a multiplayer server once, then any other attempt to join will result in an endless loading screen unless I uninstall and reinstall the game. So I can only connect to any server once? So thats one bug in having on my mac, also, the person I am trying to play with cannot connect to his server on the same computer he is hosting it on. He is also having trouble with the endless loading screen when trying to connect from an Alieneware M14x laptop. I will post more results when he attempts a connection to the server after redownloading/installing the game on the Alienware.

Check port number, it should be 3000. Default port doesnt work sometimes
